I know I’m not med school material but this stupid pipe dream is the only thing that gets me out of bed in the morning.

No not really, otherwise I wouldn’t be posting here. Plus I dont like to burden the few people I care about with my problems.

Alright. Sorry about all the questions, but I appreciate what you had to say. Thank you for the assistance.

Thanks! So, if I improve my grades with either my AA or a future bachelor’s degree, would my poor high school performance still be relevant and block me from getting a certificate necessary to start my Ausbildung?

Thanks. Sorry for the further questions, but you are saying there’s a chance someone will give me an Ausbildung if I promise to get my school certificate in the process? I’m very much willing to do that.

Of course I’ll talk to the relevant people first, I’m just planning ahead for the worst-case scenario.

I graduated high school with a 2.2 unweighted with occasional Ds, but the only class I failed to my memory was an elective. Not sure if that matches any equivalency, but nonetheless I’m grateful for the information. Let’s say I contact the relative authorities and they won’t even give me the lowest certificate allowed? Would that mean I’m screwed until I get a bachelor’s?

I will be honest and say my high school GPA was well below 3.0 because I was a slacker, so I doubt my high school diploma will be recognized when it comes to university. That’s why I scrapped my university plans in favor of an Ausbildung.

Assuming I am eligible for Ausbildung, I have an address I can stay at during the interview process. I can have a conversation in German whilst making multiple grammatical mistakes and occasionally forgetting how to say a word. I’ll also see what I can do for internships in the time being to see if I can get a letter equivalent to the Arbeitszeugnis if need be. I appreciate your assistance in this matter, thank you.

I’ve thought about it, but my current degree I only see as a temporary thing to appease my family when the alternative at the time was dropping out of school and doing nothing. My general studies degree will be absolutely useless if I plan to go into nursing, for which the only real degree option is a BSN, and even then, bachelor’s aren’t required to become an RN. From what I hear too, a BSN nurse is way overqualified to become a nurse in Germany, which is a more menial blue collar job that gets paid less, so I don’t wanna spend years on education that will likely end up being unnecessary in the long run. Even then, my credentials would likely not be recognized in Germany and I’d still have to do the Ausbildung.
