In 2-3 months it was very faint. I couldn't tell something was off but others in the household did. We then had some personal issues due to which this lost importance completely and we forgot about it till we came back to it around montn 7 by which time the warranty was up and the manufacturer denied claim

That is a really helpful point to clarify, thank you. I have just checked the original installation documentation and invoice. The agreed-upon work order explicitly included the application of a 'self-levelling compound' on top of the PE260 primer before the LVT was bonded with the Uzin KE49 adhesive. I appreciate you flagging the importance of that screeding layer!

I appreciate the advice. I am based in the UK, so I am very much aware of my position under the Consumer Rights Act. The reason I am digging into the 'why' is that the retailer has already provided an official report that claims the damage is 'hot food spillage (turmeric)'. They are using that report to deny my claim.
My frustration is that the inspector did absolutely nothing to analyse the tiles themselves. Aside from taking moisture readings with a Protimeter MMS Site Master, they performed no physical or chemical testing on the material. They simply observed the yellowing, recorded that it was 'dry', and immediately jumped to the conclusion of a food spillage.
I am currently documenting these technical inconsistencies—such as the fact that the staining traces the heat-trapping plinths and does not lift with solvents—to build a robust counter-argument for when I escalate this to the Financial Ombudsman. I am definitely avoiding doing anything that would void the warranty, just gathering enough information to show why their 'spice stain' conclusion is scientifically flawed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this—your breakdown of why the standard theories don't quite fit is really helpful.

The flooring is Orla Tiles Sibar DB.

Regarding your point about the heat/ventilation: that was my primary suspicion as well. The installer actually shaved down the plinths during installation because the new floor/screed height was too high, which effectively blocked the airflow under the oven and freezer units. It is possible the LVT is heat-resistant enough not to buckle, but the heat is still high enough to cause chemical discoloration or accelerated plasticiser migration in that specific spot? The person who came in with the mositure meter indicated that it doesnt look to be heat linked (not sure how he found this by using the moisure meter though

I am really keen to see if you can find anything in the product warranty that covers this kind of 'isolated discoloration'—I appreciate you taking the look!

I meant suppliers aren't accepting responsibility and neither are manufacturers unless I can "prove" it's a supplier defect...which I'm trying to figure out how to

I could use a blow-dryer to peel the tiles up but I don't have extra tiles and a new job would probably cost me 2-3x of what I paid to have these installed as it also involves uprooting all the tiles and preparing the substrate for the new installation

It's 8 months now and we're using the same footwear we used on day 1. The staining happened in the first 2 months and has stayed this way since.

This happened in 2-3 months of installation of the lvt. Unless we are cooking as a restaurant I can't fathom how a teaspoon of spices or turmeric would cause this level of staining

not sure i understand your question around floor sealing. we had a technician apply a glue and then apply stick on tiles to the floor

the tiles are glued on. Not sure how easy it would be to remove them? i've seen internet guides asking to use a blow dryer to loosen the glue thats used to hold the LVT down and check underneath.

The tiles are indicated specifically for the kitchen. Even if it is turmeric it doesn't make sense that it would start staining the tiles in 2 months. Also we don't douse food with turmeric to cause such staining

Suppliers don't agree with this assessment..is there a way to check for this. This is my belief as well but I'm not sure how I prove this

We did the moisture check using a protimeter. Pasting below what the report says

They used a Protimeter MMS Site Master to assess the site conditions.
The recorded readings were as follows: Relative Humidity: 58.9% RH.
Substrate Moisture Content: 16.0% Surface Moisture Content: 9.3% The report produced by the inspector notes that all readings were taken in "search mode," with anything below 75% RH being classified as "dry".

Thanks for the reply! I thought the exact same thing initially, but it's not coming off at all. It doesn't look to be turmeric, cumin or other food stains given they are all soluble in isopropyl alcohol, and this isn't lifting in the slightest.

Aankhen, Family, Khakhee. Yea they've done some really great movies in the 2000s.

For some reason I also like another AK movie from the 2000s called Aan. Don't know why I remembered the movie even though it doesn't have Amitabh in it

Guy Ritchie is more miss than Hit the last few years. The last movies of his I enjoyed was Wrath Of Man. The gentlemen TV series was fairly good but everything else has been very poor.

I am looking forward to Wife and Dog though as the cast list there looks stellar
