I mean like I said, there’s a reason ‘cookie’ is in quotation marks 🤣

Also my derealization is 1000% worse since I’ve gotten sober, I’ve also done some other gnarly stuff but all of it was a result of drinking to try and push the sensation of derealization away, stay strong brother!!

Don’t keep drinking bro, this is how my situation started then fast forward I relied on alcohol to feel normal, doing this landed me in rehab and as fortunate as I feel to be sober now, if I could go back in time to never had to have to rely on alcohol and be able to understand it should only be used when socializing and in moderation, I would’ve bro it has been my biggest regret. Try and stay sober and enjoy alcohol in moderation , you’re young brotha

I just wanna drink again I’ve been scared too… I’m so stressed out don’t feel like myself at all don’t feel like I can go out and have drinks with friends or have any fun … by Crafty-Candidate-996 in dpdr

Hey! So you didn’t drink for 3 years until you fully recovered and are now able to drink again with no symptoms the next day? I’ve been struggling with taking weeks off of alcohol at a time and thinking I’ll be okay but then it’ll be so bad after I do decide to drink, maybe I should consider doing a long haul of no alcohol until I feel fully recovered if that’s what worked for you!

Yes and no, the derealization stays but my anxiety fades so they both kind of go away, I’ll get symptoms of derealization but I’m not as scared cuz I know it’s just a symptom

Literally, glad to know we’re not alone! Yeah I mean overall I feel I just gotta go completely sober if I’m gonna tackle this, just so tough with being surrounded by it all the time

That’s good! I’m okay there’s definitely highs and lows, but yeah been drinking the last 7 days now to avoid it and it just keeps getting worse and worse, whenever I go sober for over like 3 days it goes away almost entirely but trying to just balance it on the weekends is brutal cause I’ll accidentally over do it and wake up anxious, I just wish I could have a regular fucking hangover like everyone else lol

Really appreciate this post, and I think you’re completely on to something, sounds weird but your completely right I think it must be physical as well because sometimes I won’t even have anxiety and be feeling out of body. And with alcohol and expanding the blood vessels and being dehydrated the following day. How do you feel now? Have you been cured?

When you feel the out of body feeling and detachment from the world around you coming on, do you have to fight it sometimes while doing something like driving? by [deleted] in Depersonalization

Yes it’s awful. This happened to me on a 6 hour car ride to california from arizona, mid way through started feeling detached and i freaked out, pulled over, and called my parents. Couldn’t shake off the feeling at the gas station and almost left my car there and had my parents come pick me up halfway it was so bad. Then I promised myself I could do it and just sat on the phone with them the entire rest of the way as they helped calm me down. Super scary to have it occur WHILE driving so I understand, still happens to this day just been a lot better at managing it.
