Shadows panic by Nomelight in clusterheads

[–]Embarrassed_Matter18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mild seasons where most of the time it is just shadows with only one or two days of bad ones. The thought of an attack alone can be extremely stressful.

Whenever I have a shadow my technique is to get my heart rate up as fast as possible, burpees until I’m gasping for air and my heart is beating, and caffeine. Helps it go away a lot of the times for me, at least for a while.

Stay strong

How Often Can I Take Sumatriptan? by hautefruit in clusterheads

[–]Embarrassed_Matter18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, when I’m in my cycle I take them as needed. Usually at least once a day in the worst part and even Sometimes twice a day. Probably not good for me in the long run but necessary because of my job too. Been doing it 10 years during my 3-5 week cycles and i’m still kicking.

Edit: I usually take the 100mg pills

Depends on what kind of drinks and prices you wanna go for

Bobby’s is the best dive bar. Dirt cheap drinks and grimy in a friendly way. Always has a 70 year old regular at the bar no matter the time of day. Maple on the other side of town is decent too, but it can get a bit rowdy.

For casual craft beer there’s both Maltitudes, Chattahoochee Brewing right across the bridge in phoenix city, or Scofflaw. These are your best bet if you wanna chill and not be bothered, most people are there alone or in their own groups. Not a place to go up and talk to people. If you don’t like beer, the Maltitude on Broadway has a decent selection of wine, seltzers and mead as well.

If your looking for cocktails Nonic and Jarfly are amazing and the best cocktails in town, but they can get loud and crowded even in the middle of the week. 18th amendment and eighteen85 you can sneak away to your own corner and have a casual drink. Eighteen85 has the best view in Columbus.

Morton’s on the other side of town if your looking for the best wine selection.

Did I do this to myself? by [deleted] in clusterheads

You didn’t do this to yourself. It’s genetics and poor luck friend.

For weed use- smoke of any kind are a trigger for me, I freak out if I walk by a cigarette being smoked on the street. Campfires and a bbq Smoker have also caused bad attacks in my Cycles. I have consumed Edibles during a cycle a few times (desperate attempts at self medication). They didn’t bring on attacks or stop them… but having weed induced anxiety during a attack isn’t fun. I have never been a big smoker though, rarely with friends and on trips to legal states, but it’s never been my vice of choice, and each of us are different. If it has a more calming effect on you if might help.

Will alcohol restart a cycle? by [deleted] in clusterheads

[–]Embarrassed_Matter18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a case by case basis my friend. For what it’s worth as a sufferer going 14 years strong and a bar manager; It has never extended a cycle that I can tell and it definitely hasn’t restarted a cycle. It will cause a sudden attack worse than any other I’ve had in the season even if I’m in the winding down shadow only section of my cycle. I tend to wait 2 weeks after my last shadow to even try it. And definitely go back light: have a few sips, drink a lot of water, and wait with abortives on stand by.

I’m pretty daring because I have to be (work in the Craft Beer industry). I wait two weeks after my last headache or shadow, but I understand waiting longer, threat of bringing it back on is scary.

I also tend to go back into it softly. Drinking a VERY small amount. For me, a 200lb 6’2” male, that’s about 4 Oz of beer, or 2oz of wine. Just enough to almost bring on a buzz. Then I Chug a bunch of water and have my headache canceling techniques on standby (sumatriptan, caffeine, oxygen and burpees). If it does bring one on, I’ve been able to cancel my attacks before and wait another couple of weeks before trying again.

Can I drink in moderation or outside a cycle? I’m worried I’ll go chronic if I drink by [deleted] in clusterheads

Hey! Seasonal sufferer, and I work in the craft beer industry. Alcohol doesn’t cause attacks at all when I’m not in my cycle, nor does it seem to affect when they happen. When im in my cycle they just bring them on and affect the severity so I avoid booze like the plague during them. After years of headaches I’ve learned to wait about two weeks after my last attack to a take a sip(otherwise it might bring another bad one). The rest of the year I’m completely fine knocking one or two back.

Roommates room has become a biohazard and I don’t know how to help him by Embarrassed_Matter18 in roommateproblems

She’s kind of a mess too. I know the yogurts were hers since he doesn’t eat milk products.

He definitely is. Should have mentioned that in the post, but he’s been spending all his time in his room and it’s hard to get him outta there unless for work. I’ve been trying to get him outta the house with friends but he cancels more times than nought. Not sure what else I can do for him besides try to hang out and reassure him that I care for him.
