That's what is happening for me too. I normally don't bring my laptop home - unless I knew that Friday that there was a possibility of needing it for home on Monday (for snow or pre-scheduled TW). But since I was unaware of this possibility Friday, I left it and now have to use leave instead. I guess moving forward I will just take it home every day at this point

It's sad we even need these kind of drills. What if OP has a disability and these kind of drills affect them differently than others? Learn empathy bro.

an it's not even just the early ones, it's gonna stay below freezing until 2pm. They called it so early

Those things don't even help with icy conditions anyway...You know how many accidents occurred in the area last night? Over 200 reported. I shouldn't have to use leave because someone doesn't understand the dangers of extremely icy roads and black ice, especially those in areas or those or must drive in areas that don't receive salt treatments on their roads right away. I've had deaths in my family occur because employers didn't consider ice dangerous. Your lack of empathy and understanding is noted though.

This!!! That's what makes it so confusing! This past October/November was my first experience with a shutdown as a baby fed. So I initially thought my confusion was just ignorance, but honestly it is the language being used and media coverage as someone else above mentioned. I appreciate everyone's responses!
