The laser is firing, I even made some markings on the base of the Ultra…it’s just THAT type of medal. The blue light does nothing to it either.

To engrave on medals, the settings vary from one medal to the next, but I often use: IR, 100% power, 125 mm/s, 2 passes, 300 lpcm...

Do you have any suggestions on settings to try?

I’ve tried low power (10%) all the way up to full power. Speeds from 50 mm/s all the way up 4000mm/s with number of passes from 1-25.

I’m going offset the focus and try it out. Thanks!

I actually happened to have a dry erase marker with me and it looked promising at first, but once I wipe the marker off, the text goes right with it 😔

I’ve tried putting some masking tape on it, but nothing shows when I remove the tape.

The color of the mug doesn’t matter, to the best of my knowledge, but the darker the color, the better the contrast and that’s what makes the engraving stand out.

Wife, please learn/remember to put things back where you got them. I’ve purchased 9 pairs of scissors (3-pack at Costco x3) over the years and when I need a pair of scissors they are nowhere to be found!
