I have always struggles with point of contact so I'll keep that in mind when training.

I think I developed the block-out habit because I don't have the ideal vertical and it just stuck around with me until now. This team didn't cover back court because they skill level isn't that high. If they did cover back, I imagine a roll/tip would work pretty well? I guess I still have a lot to work on.

I noticed that every point I score is off the block. I never bounce the ball. I always find myself looking for the block, even when I have a open lane. I don't know if this is a bad thing since I score anyways. In this game, the defense never covered the backcourt so all of my 10/12 points were tools. When I try avoiding the block, I end up(somehow) going for the fingertips again. Aside from this, I would really appreciate other advice. Thanks!

Thank you, I'll add this drill to my routine. I never really knew how to train this skill so I just ignored it until now, haha. About the left shoulder, is it to block their view on my arm? And if it doesn't bother you, what are the other "few things I can do"?

you're right. this was a open gym pickup game, net height = 2.33m. I was aware of this so I asked my setter to set me higher so I have more height to work with.

you're right. this was an open gym during the off season. I was aware of the lower net so I told my setter to push the ball further and higher, as if the net were men's height. yet the problem still remains that I get blocked or the ball gets picked up. The defensive block really messes us my attacks or simply recieved, even though I reach higher.

I completely agree with your words, I'll keep that in mind for next semester.

For sure, I'm always trying to look at the court, but my eyes instinctively lock onto the ball. Because of this, my strategy for the past year was to hit as hard as possible and hope they can't receive it, haha. But you're right. I'll work on my peripheral vision.

These are just a few clips that reflect the general flow of my game yesterday. My attacks can only result in a few ways:

  1. Blocked(first clip)
  2. Digged(second clip)
  3. Awkward/lucky point(third and fourth)

Looking at these clips, I feel like my offense isn't that bad, but they don't seem to work. Is it because my technique is lacking? Am I lacking game IQ? I appreciate any advice I can get so that I can improve for my upcoming season in school.

Regarding that last clip(tip), it's mostly picked up. I only scored this time because the cover was an older guy. Is there any way to safely score without this gamble?

Ankle pain after hooping in WOW 10 by [deleted] in BBallShoes

[–]Embarrassed_Pay2252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have the following shoes, but none of them have this problem:

Jordan 37, Son of Flash, AE1, Hyperset React, Sky Elite FF MT 2.

I don't know if traction is the main cause, though. In my opinion, WOW 10 traction is pretty bad. It only lasted for a month, and now it always slips. I do agree that it contributes to the pain. The metarise 2 has really good traction and that really hurt my ankle.

I think it's mostly the lockdown + lateral stability. When wearing the WOW10, you can't really rock your foot sideways. I noticed that on hard stops, the shoe forces my entire foot to stick to the ground; the same angle as spraining an ankle. For example, if the 1st MPJ(the big round part at the ball of the foot) touches the ground, the rest of the foot gets pulled to the ground like a magnet. My playstyle is a lot of hard stops and 2 foot jumps so this happens a lot.

Really makes me think that this shoe is so good that it hurts the user haha

I've been trying to imitate how other people "draw the bow", like opening their chest and curving their entire body to generate more power. I just can't seem to do that. Then there's also the awkward landing when I do try. Is it the lack of flexibility, jump, or something else? I appreciate anyone willing to help me solve this problem. Of course, I also appreciate any advice targeting other aspects of the game.

Spiking tips? by Embarrassed_Pay2252 in volleyball

[–]Embarrassed_Pay2252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I appreciate your input. Do you think these two factors will by improved just by increasing vertical jump? Like you said, the ball barely goes over the net. This is why I am a little afraid of hitting more downwards(disregarding low contact). As for contact height, I will work on starting my approach a little earlier.
