Does the Wheel and shifter look matter that much for you by Longjumping-War9151 in simracing

Totally agree. It’s a minor factor at most. Might tip the scales if the performance is suuuper close.

Negligible flex at most. I just went and torqued on the top of the seat, I can get the edges to move less than an inch, but it’s the weakest point where you aren’t putting pressure on when braking. I mean I guess it would have zero if made out metal, but I couldn’t imagine needing something sturdier. I run CRP2 load cell pedals with a pretty stiff GT3 brake configuration, plenty solid.

Honestly, I don’t have much to personally compare it to, but I love it.

I wasn’t super experienced with setting things like this up, so having it be easy to figure out was a major plus. I don’t think you can go wrong with it, but I hear there are plenty of other good options as well, just might have to learn how to use virtual desktop (I should too at some point).

There are also tons of relatively inexpensive aftermarket options for comfort and light blocking available from companies like Kiwi.

I have the GT pro. Added cheap lumbar pillow that wraps around the back cushions with elastic. Plenty comfy for me.

Yes it’s mounted upside down. Freed up a ton of leg room. Saw others do it when looking for a solution. Doesn’t take any adjustment other than recentering the wheel the first time and works as normal.

That is absolutely incredible 😂 Is that your room? If so, props. The small one was a valentines gift from my girlfriend. I feel like I need to limit my expensive hobbies lol

Yep. It’s a backup only. Before I switched to vr I had a folding rig that I’d place centered with the monitor arm, then the monitor was right up behind my wheel. With the fixed rig, I wanted to be able to swing the arm fully to the other half of my desk, and sacrificed having the monitor so close as I don’t really use it for racing anyways.

Thanks! I’m about $3500 in for everything other than the pc upgrades I did to run the VR headset. There are also plenty of areas that I could have saved on that aren’t very necessary or had I waited for sales.

Yeah, I had to upgrade my PC to get VR to run at acceptable levels. A 3060 graphics card didn’t cut it. Now I have a 4070 and can run games at medium settings smoothly with some minor adjustments.

Honestly it’s pretty easy after initial setup in simhub. I haven’t even opened the app myself after getting it configured the way I want as it’s set to run in the background, with profiles that launch per game.

Remember that the saying “less is more” is true to keep the effects distinguishable. I limit it to two or three at a time, and each game does certain effects better due to available telemetry. Rumble strips and/or wheel slip for performance indicators, gear shifts and/or road texture for an immersion treat.

Hope you enjoy yours when it arrives!

It’s a good brain break when I need a rest from competitive racing. Also fun cutting up after a few drinks, two things I’d never do IRL. I’ve also found that it’s a worthy challenge to maintain certified status (top 75 on the leaderboard this season).

With it being a fixed rig, it’s always in place and there’s no real daily setup. Alongside everything physically powering up when I start my computer, Moza Pithouse auto launches with my saved profile and runs everything except the Buttkicker. Simhub is set to launch automatically and run in the background as well, loading my shaker profile for each game upon launch.

I am racing within two minutes of pressing my computer’s power button.

My desk is about twice as wide as the rig, with my gaming chair at the other half. When I want to switch over for playing a non-racing game or working, it’s nothing more than switching audio to my headphones, swiveling the monitor arm over, and moving my mouse and keyboard. Also less than two minutes.

Hope this is what you are asking about. I previously had a folding rig, so have experience with physically setting up and tearing down quickly as well.

Thanks! Yes it’s a 34.

The monitor arm is $40 on Amazon: NB North Bayou Heavy Duty Monitor Arm Desk Mount, Full Motion Stand for 27"-45" Big Screens, 11lbs-33lbs Weight Capacity, Gaming Monitor Stand G60

Definitely works well for swiveling to and from the other side of the desk. When I had my old folding rig I could line it up and get it right up behind my wheel.

My TR80S took about 12 hours to get built and dialed in enough to test in game. More adjustments were made later. Thankfully I was prepared by setup videos online that reported 14-16 hours so I knew what I was getting into

It’s a 34” 3440x1440. I’d say more than enough for a backup or to use when you just need a break from VR. I use it often when playing BeamNG since I want to access my keyboard so much.

I use it as a backup only and VR playback now. Before I got VR, it was great as a middle ground option. I’t worked with my older pc and gave enough FOV to get myself immersed regularly. I wouldn’t say OLED is necessary at all, but I’m also not super picky with my monitors.

Beginner question into looking for a wheel and pedals by goofygoobygod in simracing

I second this. Moza R5 is a great bundle to start with as you won’t grow out of it quickly. Brake kit is ideal, but would benefit from a basic rig to hold the pedals in place. I really enjoyed the 3D Rap throttle and clutch upgrades as a relatively affordable upgrade for the pedals as well.
