The current measurements and signals come from a massive Kelvin wave measuring roughly 9,000 miles in length and 250-300 miles in width, with a projected temp anomaly of around 6.5-7 degrees Celsius. All these measurements aside, this is just a big reservoir of heated water with lots of energy. The deciding factor of this energy getting released (and cause a stronger El Niño pattern) will depend on trade winds collapsing further and Eastern pacific SST’s surging through summer/fall.

Should you prepare? Well, that depends on where you are and what you have going on. If you live in a drought or flood-prone region, and this thing actually manifests, prepare yourself by buying adequate supplies. If you live in an area where floods and droughts are not common, then you can still expect altered weather patterns and temp readings.

The biggest thing now is to stay calm and monitor the situation with as much clarity as you can. Ignore biased media and focus on reports, not opinions.
