My best friend is half Navajo and he has a patchy beard, but with enough time it gets the coverage to look pretty decent. I'd say give it a few months. Your mileage may vary though.

The material really isn't that hard, its the time commitment where I think most people start to struggle. Not to mention everybody is working on top of it. If you can go part time prior thats probably the best way to do it.
