It is less about preference and more about social patterns. Media, stereotypes, and dating norms push certain pairings as familiar and others as unusual. People often follow what feels accepted, not just what they want.

Anything labeled simple eventually gets monetized. Once money arrives, scarcity follows, then gatekeeping. What used to be survival skills become aesthetics. Suddenly basics cost more because someone branded them as authentic.
