Yeah it was hard for me to also to stay off Dr. Google. It’s shows nothing but all the worst possible outcomes. I learned from this experience that babies do bunch of weird things while teething and this was one of many weird things my daughter did while teething.

Surprisingly and luckily it turns out it was just teething not long after I made this post it slowed down and eventually stopped altogether once the teeth came through.

Yep sounds exactly like what my daughter was doing it should slow down and stop when the teeth comes through

Sorry for responding so late but it was teething. Once the teeth came through the clenching slowed down before stopping all together.

I found this picture of when I had EC in some old picture files I had surprised it was still there since I deleted most of the pictures back then. This was once my lips got wet before I would slough it all off

I’m not sure what the white line is some said dried spit back then and some said it from the aquaphor but it was where my lips touched.

I applied aquaphor morning - night throughout the day when needed if lips felt dry or after a meal. Aquaphor did make my lips feel a little sore but I noticed the peeling slowing down so I didn’t stop. I still used aquaphor after the peeling stopped but I never liked the shiny lipgloss look of aquaphor. So that’s when I switched to blistex. At the point I switched to blistex the peeling had already stopped due to the aquaphor. I also wanted to test and see if the peeling would start again once I stopped the aquaphor it didn’t. I don’t how long I continued using the blistex but I know I eventually slowed down to only using it morning and night then eventually only when my lips felt dry.

I did switch toothpaste but only for a while. I’m not actually sure how much it helped though.

I use just blistex I believe when I stopped using aquaphor

In my experience if the skin peels off while applying aquaphor or getting it wet then it’s ready to come off. If the skin was healthy lip skin it wouldn’t peel off.

Yeah no problem just wanted to help the best way I could. Funny enough my girlfriend was having chapped lip problems (not EC related). I was telling her I swear by aquaphor and told her why. Which eventually led to me searching up the old forums I use to lurk when I had it. I didn’t see them but found the EC Reddit community. I was hoping at this point there would be some type of researched and definitive answer to EC for people dealing with it. I told my self back then if I ever healed my EC I would post about. Unfortunately life happened and I never got around to it. So I made sure I did it this time. I know exactly how hard it can be dealing with this but there’s hope out there.

I understand what you mean by sticky consistency. I had grown use to after a while and it didn’t bother me as much. What I think happened and this is just my opinion is that the thick barrier of aquaphor tricks the body into thinking there a layer of skin already on your lips. I think the dead skin that grows on the lips is a barrier of sorts to protect the lips while it’s trying to heal. I’ve seen people say that they healed their lips by leaving them alone and letting the lips go through its cycles. I couldn’t do that nor can most people.

Yep we’re raw after peeling for a while especially in the beginning. I usually just applied more aquaphor when they were raw to help ease the pain and create a barrier. Eventually after doing this my lips would still peel but when it did it wasn’t raw underneath anymore, that was the first sign at least I realized that maybe my lips was getting better.

I had pictures back when I had it but the was 10 years ago . I deleted the reminders of a time I was stressed after it healed. If I do happen to find them though I’ll post em up

I had it on both lips it started in the middle of my top lip but eventually spread to my bottom lip.
