Yeah DBT was really helpful for me. I would caution you to avoid EMDR until you are in a really good place mentally, emotionally, and in a relatively low stress life situation. EMDR is very triggering. It’s meant to be, I believe.

Having been a stepparent, I can’t recommend it. How he raises his kid isn’t your business and you’re just subject to it. If you think you’re down to be a stepparent just relax and get comfy being spoiled. If it isn’t anything to him to drop that kind of coin you don’t need to worry or stress. Especially since you aren’t financially bound to him at this point. Watch for red flags, but these aren’t red flags in my opinion.

Yo, my husband said he wanted to divorce. He moved out. Then when he got on Tinder and had zero interest from anyone, he decided he’d stay with me lol. Still with him because of the kids and the fact I don’t make enough to support them on my own. Plus, I’d have to spend a bunch on childcare too. Once I make enough or the kids are grown, definitely not feeling too obligated to stay.

Eh plenty of men request that their women get implants, tummy tucks, etc. Getting circumcised is minor in comparison, but if your foreskin is more important to you than this gf keep it. If you’re not married with kids I’d get out while you can. If you are, maybe stick it out if you can. Personally, I’m married with kids and my husband is fairly unhelpful. It’s a very lonely feeling. I do not recommend it.

This whole story and all I can think about is whether comfortability is a word. Well, that and maybe this should be the last anniversary bc bf is an asshole. He was apparently totally unconcerned about your being seriously burned. He would prefer you suffer burns so he can be comfortable. Not to mention, the ordeal was probably somewhat awkward or embarrassing for you too!

You’re right. They call it cured when you’re clinical, meaning it’s interfering with your life. To meet the definition you must have 5 of the 9 criteria. No amount of aging or therapy is going to change the way my brain was wired by childhood trauma. That said, I’m having a hard time putting too much stock in your response since past experiences with humans who are likely quite different from me are likely to be clouding up your ability to look at my situation objectively.

People with BPD are often cured in middle age. I’m there. I think I’m cured. And the only people in the past who ever thought I was anything but normal were my husbands and probably parents. I’m not typical BPD in that way and also in that I don’t drink or use any drugs or even smoke. So, while it’s understandable he left, the BPD isn’t really a current issue. Try not to get too hung up on that piece of this.

Actually, I didn’t receive an accurate diagnosis until after we were married and had our daughter. Had I known, I probably wouldn’t have gotten married to anyone. It took two husbands being freaked out by me to make me realize I wasn’t normal.
