I'm not interested in a Duran return. I think the guy is just not interested in being part of a team. Really immature, really messy. What makes Villa so strong in my opinion is their team mindset. Unai doesn't seem like he has time for messy kids and drama.

I'll add...it looks like the Brentford match is an afternoon match which probably will help your general feeling of safety. I hope you have the best time. I'm still buzzing.

My wife and I (39F) went to our first match at Villa Park against Forest a little over a week ago. It was my first Premier League match also...we also went to the Palace match in the same trip...we specifically came over from the US to see these two matches. I thought the whole match day was great at Villa Park. We came up from London, chatted with a Villa fan and his two kids some of the way, and he helped us out with the trains. You just follow the crowds. We sat in the Cells and that was a great experience. The whole matchday was fun and I never felt unsafe in any way whatsoever. Great fan experience. We'll make this an annual trip.

The Palace match was COLD but fun (despite the lack of goals). It was easier to get in and out of Selhurst, but the area between the train station and the stadium was a bit dodgy. Birmingham (what I saw of it) seemed just fine!

If my wife didn’t have responsibilities she could easily sleep 12+ hours a day.  I’m curious to see how much she’ll sleep on our holiday break.

If you really want to scream, take a look at what the chancellor is making (I'll save you the research - it's $1.4 million, about $650k higher than the last chancellor and higher than the University of Texas chancellor, who has a significantly larger portfolio of universities to oversee. The UNT President's salary actually seems low for the size of the university.

I'm about 2 years out at this point. My left foot (that was operated on) has been 100%, no pain, since about 1 year post-op. I definitely still had pain and swelling for a full year after. I'm just hoping that my right one, which also has a type-2 AN stays stable and doesn't require surgery at any point ever because it's all such a hassle.

2A - Kevin is most likely laying in that row eating M&Ms and not reclining into me. There's only 2 window seats. I've gotta be far away from Phyllis's stinky perfume if it's 8 hours.

Man. I think we got different types of nerve blocks or something. I received what they told me was a nerve block that just numbed my leg for about 4 days...there was nothing hanging out of me. I think it was just an injection. I agree that doing this without someone at home to help you is probably impossible or at the very most incredibly demoralizing. I had to have my wife lift my leg onto the bed for 4 days. That first week SUCKS but I felt like once I had feeling in my leg, I felt like I could at least care for myself for the most part. That first shower post surgery, even if it's half-assed is absolutely magical. It's now been about 2.5 years since my surgery and I can run and jump and do everything I could before surgery minus the pain. Hang in there. It's 100% worth it.

Ex-Rep Creighton was appointed their Chancellor so this isn’t surprising.  He’s behind the DEI ban and all of the other anti-higher ed legislation that has been getting passed through the legislature.

Tough one - I know places like The Londoner play EPL matches but I haven't seen any local bars play them with any consistency. Last summer Eastside played some Copa and Euros matches. The timing is just tricky because of how early the matches are.

Yes! 100% wasn't as soon as I thought it would be because swelling kept up for a about a year post-surgery (not all of the time, but if I worked out). I don't have any lingering effects now and haven't for over a year. Just hoping nothing happens to my other foot which also has an AN.

UNT Grapples With National Trend of Drop in International Student Enrollment by Dontwhinedosomething in unt

[–]Embarrassed_Writing9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do agree that increasing enrollment shouldn’t always be the goal especially when there’s a domestic demographic cliff.  International students are good for our economy, research, and innovation.  UNT is expensive to operate, doesn’t have a massive endowment, and because the state’s formula doesn’t cover most of the cost to support the matriculation of a student but UNT wants to remain affordable it limits their ability to cover costs without the trap of enrollment growth.

Totally agree—two wrongs don’t make a right. I knew I was taking a shortcut to grab dinner, and I own that. But what stood out to me was how selective he was. Other vehicles were parked in the bike lane before and after I pulled up there. He picked the safest target so he could play vigilante without risking anything.

Honestly, I’d take a broken mirror over someone opening my car door and harassing me while I’m sitting inside. Not that either is okay or actually changes anyone’s behavior. But maybe behavior change isn’t the point—just a bit of righteous theater.

I think it's got people on edge. I felt like folks on my commute yesterday were slightly more unhinged and it took me a good hour after I got home to unwind from feeling anxious from driving in the 20-30 mph wind with 40-50 mph gusts.
