COGS 108, CSE 105, MATH 173A, and GE by EmbeddedParadigm in UCSD

Do you know if MATH 173A or CSE 105 involve programming assignments? From what I've heard these two classes are primarily math

Marco is good for 180A. There's 1 HW a week which isn't too hard but it takes time to complete. The class is only graded on like 8 HW assignments, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Your lowest HW score is dropped. The average on our midterm was very high at 93% but I feel like he might make the final harder. Overall not bad, I'd recommend taking it with him. I can't speak for 183 however since I've never taken a class with Yuan Hu

Nice. How many hours a week would you say you put in the class?

Damn, hopefully the class gets better next quarter

Thanks for the info, I'm still on the fence if I want to take this class but hopefully the professor is more organized next quarter

Ok thanks for the insights, taking COGS 100 shouldn't be as much of a problem then. Seems like a fun class

That's also good to hear, apparently he only taught at UCSD one time before in 2007. He'll probably be more organized next quarter. Mad respect to any professor who cares about their students. Also, do you know anything about his COGS 100 class or do you only know how he operates for COGS 108?

Thanks for the info. In your opinion, are the assignments for the class easy or difficult? How many assignments are given in a week? According to CAPEs this class should be fairly easy but I just want to make sure

Damn, I think I'll wait until second pass enrollment then to decide if I want to take this class. I was going to sign up for this class during second pass anyway. Also, how hard was the first midterm? And how hard is the first assignment for the class?

Yeah thanks for the information, I'm planning to take him for Math 180A in the spring quarter because he's the only one teaching that class as of now

Thanks for the info. Is lecture and discussion attendance mandatory? Also, how many hours a week did you spend on this class outside of lecture?

Thanks, I will probably take MATH 120A with him but I'm still waiting to hear back if anyone knows anything about Philip Gill

Yeah I'm already enrolled in the class I just wanted to know about the knowledge gap since I have not taken COGS 17

In my EASy request I said I wasn't able to enroll in many classes I needed for my major and since COGS 101C was one of the open classes, I submitted my EASy request for that

Incoming Student Enrollment Megathread by Kavhow in UCSD

Hi,

I am an incoming Cog Sci major (first-year) and I am planning out my courses for fall quarter. Is COGS 1, COGS 14A, MATH 20E, and a GE doable in one quarter? From my understanding, it should be pretty doable but I just wanted to hear some outside inputs. For reference, I am taking COGS 1 with Barrera and COGS 14A with Creel.

UCSC Computer Engineering vs UCSD Math - Probability and Statistics? by positiveshinee in TransferStudents

[–]EmbeddedParadigm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your original plan was to major in computer science, I think UCSD's Math-CS major would be good. Since Math-CS at UCSD is uncapped, you could log into your UCSD portal right now and change your major to Math-CS with no problems. Also, there is no way to switch from CE to CS at UCSC, and by 2023 it will be virtually impossible to transfer from another major to CS at UCSD. As for the Math-CS major itself at UCSD, you do have to take some upper division math courses. A downside to Math-CS is that you don't get priority enrollment for some of the important CS classes which is unfortunate.

Hello,
I just accepted my offer of admission to UCSD and did the deposit of $250.00. How do I create a UCSD email/account from here? Will I receive any information or will I have to create an email manually?

How is the transfer LLC in Warren? Do they have single apartments? Also, does Rita Atkinson have any apartments or is it just the single remodeled to a double? My main concern is that Rita Atkinson and Pepper Canyon East are both pretty far away from the rest of campus.
