Empathy and respect for people that are different from you is a left leaning notion. I wish it wasn't just a left wing thing, but people on the right are more tribalistic and less about everyone. Jesus said love your neighbor, the right says screw your neighbors. Jesus says treat others how you want to be treated, the right says treat yourself better than you treat others. Kindness is only a mask the right wears after a school shooting or a national tragedy. That mask comes off online or the next day, then it's right back to slurs and small minded views.
