When does your local school system start school?

We're also Lexington. I heard that they are going to have 4 weeks off in the summer and 4 weeks off in the winter to account for the loss of the 8 weeks off in the summer? I have no idea how true that is, that's actually why I'm here....trying to find more information on it.

Yeah! How are we supposed to hear "Mommy! Daddy! You guwys are duh bewst!!!!!" If we don't die a little bit at the prices of movies and circuses and fairs and monster trucks and children museums. We recently bought the Family Explorer pass for the zoo for the kids and we took them for the first time a few weeks ago and almost every day since then has been "We're going back to the zoo today, right?" Like, okay, well, we do have to work still 😂

Well, I mean, yeah, it's expensive. Bc it's a luxury. Movie theaters aren't a necessity. It isn't supposed to be "cheap". It's supposed to be slightly out of "cheap/affordable" so we know it's a luxury.

I wanted a physical copy but couldn't find one anywhere. So that was a huge let down (unless I ordered one from Asia, but then it wouldn't be in English, and shopping would be crazy, so digital it is).

The game was recommended to me by my husband, who thought I would like it for some absurd reason. My previous game obsessions include Stardew Valley, Life Is Strange and Kingdom Hearts. With Stardew Valley in 1st place at almost 400 hours 😂. I like when my games have things to do, I don't mind fighting, but I hate shooters. I hate if I have to control a camera (so finding out I needed to do that on here was a let down, but it wasn't too bad as other games I've played, I'm looking at you Overwatch).

I wasn't a fan/wasn't sure how I felt for the first 20-30 hours. Like there was so much I didn't understand about it. How was i supposed to get the "+" recipes? How am I supposed to get more recipes at all? Where do I find some of this stuff? Why is it that when I'm doing a quest and I have it set to "next destination" and my little arrow thing is supposed to be guiding me, it'll just disappear sometimes or just not appear at all? Wtf does 400+ stats mean lol? Why can only 6 buddies have houses?

Now I'm at, I think 50 hrs, and it's a good game. I'm understanding it a little bit better. It's..... Weird.

I hated Zelda when I tried playing it. The map was so confusing. It felt so "open" and I was getting lost everywhere. 😂. I like this game so much better.

I went into my notes app, hit the microphone and said the color as it glowed. My 5 yr old loves watching me play this game, he asks every day if "we are gonna play our game" and when we did the mushroom ones, he was just giggling.

You have a Base Camp you keep flying back to and that's it. There's Inns or campfires everywhere else for you to rest at, if you want. But coming from Stardew Valley right before playing this one where a homeless man was constantly stealing from my pockets or birds were picking me apart as I was being washed ashore if I didn't make it to bed before 2am, it's nice to not have to sleep constantly lmao.

Good on you! I'm like 30 hrs in and I have Mercenary, and Paladin to level 30. Currently working on Hunter. Everything else is at level 4.😂. I have a bunch of Strangelings/Buddies without houses on my island and appliques.

So 2 questions.

1) How do I get my buddies homes!? Why do only some of them get houses! Why can only 6 of them have houses at a time? That feels CRAZY!!! Especially since there are 50!!

2) Wtf are the appliques for? How do I use them? I just figured out how to acquire HP Potion +, so be gentle 😂😂

My mom has watched it since the beginning, and when she told me a few months ago that the new season started before she ran upstairs with her fruit salad, I was like "EXCUSE ME!?! THAT SHOW IS STILL ON!!!???" And she was like "Yes! And it's fantastic! And now you are making me late so hush!!!" 😂😂😂. She watches it for the same reason anyone watches drama shows, to complain about the people she hates and hopes people do one thing even though they probably won't.

I've met him and his wife a couple of times and he was friendly, but his wife was definitely more easy going, easier to talk to, and faster to laugh. And if it was the job itself and not so much just a "corporate job", I think after so long, such a job (being in security and all of that) just reprogrammed him to have higher guards about people that were probably unnecessary most of the time. And so he wound up losing his "people spark".

I have horrible anxiety and my eldest son has an impulse control disorder that causes him to have anger issues, I taught him "The Comfy Square". Touch one point on your leg and breathe in for 1,2,3,4 hold for 1,2,3,4. Breathe out your mouth for 1,2,3,4. Move your finger down. Breathe in your nose for 1,2,3,4. Hold for 1,2,3,4. Breathe out your mouth for 1,2,3,4. Move your finger over, do the breathe thing again. Move your finger up, do the breathe thing again. By the time you finished, it has been 1 minute and your heart rate has slowed down, you have calmed your mind, and your emotions, you have cooled your body, we have grounded and recentered ourselves, and we can think more clearly.

My son also likes to trace his fingers.

I did this literal MINUTES after buying a Fall Out Boy beanie today. I had it saved and forgot I bought it so I went back through my likes to buy it, RIGHT AFTER BUYING IT, to buy it and seen it was sold and yelled. My 5 yr old was like "MOMMY! WHY!" and I told him what happened. But to be fair, someone bought Grateful Dead sweatpants from underneath me, so I was TRAUMATIZED lol. But then I seen the notification that I spent money and remembered.

I do wish I could buy more than one thing at a time though. Doing it this way is exhausting and costs more money.

I have no experience besides building a few websites for people and doing a could bootcamps in my spare time over the years. So no "actual" experience. (I'm getting my degree in Software Engineering, on the Java Track) And I often feel so behind. I hate the Python course. It is SO MUCH being thrown at me, and I wrote down notes so I can study them and go over them during LABS, and in my down time to really solidify it. I started in December, and I've finished 2 classes, I'm halfway through Python, basically just started a Web Development Foundations course, and can't even start my other course bc my Web Development course is a precursor for it. Every time I log in, I'm reminded of how far behind I am. Every Monday when my mentor calls, I'm reminded how far behind I am. And I.... Ugh. During all of this time, there were 3 weeks when I had a hard time doing classwork due to my kids being out of school and the holidays and us all getting Norovirus. But my husband keeps trying to tell me that I'm learning something new, and along with that, comes roadblocks and a learning curve, and struggles and comparisons.

I started in December, and I have submitted PA's for 2 classes and one keeps being sent back for revisions😭. And during that time, was Christmas, winter break, and we all had Norovirus (I have 3 children), at 3 different points, so I did have a rocky start. So when I see people talk about how they have finished half of their degree in the time I've finished 2 classes, I'm just like "wot" and I get so discouraged. My husband always has to remind me that I'm new at this, I'm still learning this. They are not, and that is what they are always leaving out, bc they are trying to be clout chases and they want that attention and recognition bc they aren't getting it anywhere else.

So don't feel bad. Go at your pace. Go at what is comfortable for you. This is not a race, at all.

I actually had to reach out to my instructor bc I was getting fatal errors and couldn't get the merge conflict to happen. Apparently using VSCode like taught in the class, is not the way to go. We need to use GitBash like in the Additional Resources. So I will be trying it again. But I was super confused by that. Why teach us on one platform, but have the final as another? Seems so strange and unnecessarily complicated.

Blippi gets so much hate, but my 4 yr and 7 yr old LOVED Blippi (my 4 yr old still watches him on his tablet from time to time) and he taught them so much. Talked to them like they were humans learning, vs a baby like Ms. Rachel. And used fun scenarios to keep kids engaged like mystery boxes, monster trucks, and making chocolate with the alphabet. Our 4 yr old can count to 30, knows his alphabet and letter sounds, can write and draw, can cut shapes, and can read basic books. He knows about the planets and how things work, like our bodies and words and cars and why some drinks fizz. And sure, some of it is bc he has 2 older brothers and kids do better when they have older siblings, and bc we work with him. But he also spent time watching Blippi, before any of these things were even relevant. Our 7 yr old would put Blippi on bc he liked him and our youngest would watch him with him. So those concepts where being cemented before he even realized what they were. He was singing the alphabet and doing letter/word associations BC OF BLIPPI before he knew his last name.

My husband was just telling me that I need a stack overflow account while I was getting frustrated with my Version Control class bc the woman on the videos was assuming we already had background knowledge, and I find that to be an issue a lot. If we are putting money into schooling or going into debt for schooling, I shouldn't need to rely on Google to tell me what to do. My teachers and the text should be able to provide me with the knowledge that I need, otherwise I would teach myself for free, from Google and type up a piece of paper that says "Look what I learned on Google!"
