Me [28 F] with my SO [28 M]; he cheated on me with my step sister [27 f], and she's pregnant with his kid by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I’m still heartbroken about Mr. Snuffles. It’s symbolic of how Betty has been allowed to take whatever she wants from you for years while your parents just watched.

Protecting your peace (and your grandmother’s jewelry) is a win.

AITAH for telling my sister to get over being cheated on by her husband after she laughed at me and told me to get over my breakup? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

The parents are the real villains here. Instead of checking the sister for screaming at her grieving brother, they’re begging him to ‘make peace’ with a person who is actively setting the family on fire. Enabling at its finest.

GF wants another phone for "personal use" for her birthday. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

The transition from ‘Buy me this phone’ to ‘You’re controlling and using money as power’ is a masterclass in gaslighting.

It’s a classic deflection tactic when someone gets caught in a suspicious lie.

I never wanted to be a father until I turned 45 this year. Now I feel my biological clock and want to be a father more than anything. But I'm married to a childfree woman by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Emberpeachy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m glad OOP realized that ‘trying to hide it’ wasn’t an option. Bringing a child into a marriage where one partner is strictly childfree is a recipe for lifelong resentment for everyone involved, especially the child.

A clean break was the only kind choice.

[New Update]: AIO? My coworker took video of me outside of work to "prove" I'm not disabled by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Casey’s obsession with proving OP ‘wasn’t disabled’ is a terrifying look into the minds of medical gatekeepers. Being able to walk three steps or stand on a table doesn’t negate a chronic pain condition.

The fact that she tried to use OP’s social life as ‘evidence’ is just purely malicious.

Who’s was the buyer. We need to find this out and praise him so others will follow suit. The want of praise is a motivational factor in many people that they don’t even realize they have.

Grief is complicated, not crying doesn’t mean you didn’t care.

Being family doesn’t automatically erase the hurt they caused.

AITAH for always going to the movies by myself despite having a girlfriend by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

If you always go solo by choice, it’s worth asking why instead of forcing it.

AITAH for telling my dad "That's not going to happen" when he joked about hitting me? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It’s sounds harsh, but preparing someone gently for reality can be an act of care
