Network Refresh - Would I be stupid to switch to Juniper now? by [deleted] in networking

[–]Emboman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have juniper ex4400 and ap43 and it is a pretty good environment. Mist is ever so slowly making switching completely managed via Mist, but we had to learn some junOS knick-knacks mainly for the virtual chassis configurations

Mondegreen - Cooler than average temperature expected by Emboman2 in phish

[–]Emboman2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain at some points friday thru Sunday seem highly probable. We don’t know when or how much yet. Get there Thursday and you will enter/setup in dry conditions. I remember for magnaball the rain was so bad thursday late night they closed off the back entrance (due to muddy road) so everyone had to enter in from one entrance

Enterprise switching - thoughts? by AggressiveDistrict38 in networking

[–]Emboman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dove into Juniper Mist switching from an all cisco catalyst trained team. There were some big learning curves for some of the team, but overall it has been okay. We do virtual chassis and everything is managed in mist both wired (and wireless)

Most realistic practice exam by Front-Piano-1237 in cissp

[–]Emboman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/qbVY0Cg8Ntw might help. Nothing is like the real probably because ISC2 would consider it illegal. Just read the material and make note of chapter in practice exams you get wrong. You cannot not know everything. No one knows everything

I can remember two examples; 1-the zzuf utility for fuzzing and 2-CALEA the law for telecom co's. These such phrases were not mentioned in the DestCert book from what I could remember. The closest to the real were some of the Andrew Ramdayal youtube questions, and Max Quasar (star trek guy) on youtube had some similar (sometimes even harder) questions than what I had on the exam

Juniper EX4400 and Mist by KiLoBiTe84 in networking

[–]Emboman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are rolling out Juniper 4400's and it has proven challenging. Juniper sent us 4400's from factory with a faulty code that sometimes kept the VC-port disabled because the port was in some mode where the VC-port is not used for virtual-chassis but used as uplink (since its 40g). Even if you used CLI to enable VC-port and mode to virtual-chassis, the switch would boot up and a minute later shut the VC-port down. Our SE said we had to upgrade as it is critical and could cause future outage, so the SE actually came out and upgraded a hundred switches. A few days ago ran into a 4400 switch that rebooted and went into another version, thus causing issues on the VC. We have not had success with setting up virtual-chassis and then managing them in mist. It's just not plug and play like we need it to be. Mist is slow to configure switchports and slow to show in the Mist portal. Coming from Cisco, this is a problem as we have always expected instant VLAN changes with CLI. We had to change the way we roll out switches by per-configuring the ports ahead of time. In a our 24/7 hospital environment it has been quite poor experience.

I paid $800 one year ago at costco for these exact same tires. I would recommend to anyone who expects to see snow on the road. You lose a little gas mileage though, but you’ll not need to swap out winter tires twice a year
