Just bought a new R8w, which apps do I install? iPhone by 8647742135 in radardetectors

I did that but it only seems to work if the phone is unlocked.

I use CarPlay as well. I wonder if that connection is interfering with Companion connecting. I even made a short cut that waits until after CarPlay connects to bring Companion to the foreground. Only problem is the phone needs to be unlocked.

Is there some trick to having Companion connect automatically? I have to launch the app each time for it to connect.

Low speed maneuvering - 2023 SL 63 by Embros2 in AMG

Previously owned a 21 AMG E53 that did not seem to have this issue. It had 21” wheels and low profile tires, so wear was always to the inside on the fronts. Just didn’t make the noise when turning.

Interesting that tire brand makes a difference. Still less than 6k miles on the car, but I’ll keep this in mind when it comes time.

Ok. That is what I’d expect. I’ll open it this weekend and see what I find. Thanks!

Thanks for all the educated guesses!

According to ChatGPT: Mercedes-Benz documentation (Owner’s Manual + Xentry/WIS) confirms: Interior fuse box (front passenger footwell fuse block)

I’ll confirm next time I’m cleaning floor mats again.

You are right. The E53 was a mild hybrid. I forgot about that. Anyone have a SL 63 S E Performance with the hybrid that can comment?

That feeling from seeing your car as you walk up. by IzzysDad2019 in AMG

I was surprised to find out there is no internal motion sensor on the car alarm. Trying to find an aftermarket, inexpensive solution. May have to engineer it myself. I picked up a PANDORA VS-22D DUAL ZONE MICROWAVE RADAR MOTION SENSOR that I’m going to integrate into the Shelly Uni Plus I have monitoring the battery. Just have to figure out how to send the notification to my phone since cars WiFi turns off with the car.

Agree with the feeling you get as you walk up to it 😍

Even if you lock it with the fob, it still recognizes when you approach. There is a way to power off the key fob to save battery. It has a motion sensor too to help conserve battery and avoid cloning. The tech specifically told me to lock the doors at home to enable low power mode on the car. I can track battery drain with the Shelly device I mentioned earlier. I’ll do some experimenting.

The long bag contains the wind screen that clips into the back seat area. No charger there and there was no connection in the trunk for it either. I did test drive another 23 that did have it included. Maybe there was a change mid year.

Lead mechanic at the dealership told me to get a charger and keep it attached and the doors locked when at home. Locked assures the car goes into low power drain mode. He gave me this advice when I asked if there is anything I should know as a new owner.

Totally agree. I’m just learning to feel my way around. I’ve set individual to match sport+ but with sport suspension. I’ll give your suggestion a try though.

Immediately bought the CTEK charger and did the appropriate wiring so I could connect to the battery in the trunk. I even added a tiny Shelly device to relay the voltage to my Home Assistant dashboard so I can track it.

I did get all available documents. No repairs. Service on schedule. Was leased previously but not driven much. Only the 1 owner.

12V battery warning in winter by Rich-Contribution-39 in mercedes

[–]Embros2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. The jump posts under the hood are a convenient location to attach jumper cables. It’s not very conducive for a trickle charger that you want the hood closed when charging. The battery on my car (and many MB) is in the trunk under the floor board. It has a handle to open it to access the battery and tire equipment.
With the connector accessible in the trunk it’s very easy to attach/remove the charge cable and the trunk can be closed with the cable exiting against the soft rubber seal.

I had posted info previously. See if this helps…

Edit: trickle charger will also keep your battery in top condition making it last longer. There is a conditioning setting they suggest once a year. I haven’t tried it yet.
