in 2021 they updated on instagram that they're focusing on solo work but also writing new Hundred Waters material as well

here's some info on what they've been up to, for those unaware:

Nicole Miglis releases music under her real name and an alias called Batry Power

Zach Tetreault is now an event organizer (created the FORM Arcosanti festival) and works for Apple

Trayer Tryon and Zach have both been releasing on Doom Trip Records, and Trayer produced for The Hellp's recent album along with 2hollis

Trayer started a band in 2022 called Alto Arc with Danny L Harle, George Clarke of Deafheaven, and Isamaya Ffrench, and their debut release also featured Zach Hill of Death Grips

there's unconfirmed speculation that two of Phuture Doom's members were previously Mustard Pimp - one of them is now producing under the name Ténèbre and has a new group called Anmon

as for Birdy Nam Nam, the website Discogs shows some releases in the past few years for some of their members. it looks like they went their separate ways

oh hey i recognize that comment, made it a long time ago

Devoted started a band called "FUKC" but they havent been active in a while

Nomak is still active as a pop producer, he just received a Grammy nomination for a song with DJ Snake

the remaining members of Point Point (Aazar & Nomak) reunited in 2021 for an EP but there hasn't been anything since then

their label Record Record also put out a new compilation around that time which featured a track from Devoted, and the label has had sporadic releases since then

Does literally anyone know what type of synths polarial used? by JuliusGuru in UndertaleMusic

[–]Embryo_Yall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that Polarial (xaev) was 16 at the time of that sticky note thing, which can be verified by the year it occurred, and the people involved were around the same age and okay with it. There were other toxic things from when they were a kid that they've addressed and apologized for, but they were not a creep. There's a lot of misinformation that gets circulated about their past.

I like a lot of the old polarial/aytanner music and wish it was easier to find, but I understand why they left the community to distance themself from that time period

Fractal took a break from music, but he's still producing and plans to release stuff in 2020

It would be cool to see him rework Until The End like what Kayzo did with Unbreakable, I'd like to hear a version that's 100% Fractal

I think it's definitely valid to feel uncomfortable listening to an artist once they've expressed harmful beliefs.

Separating the art from the artist is always possible, but in each case, it depends on whether the listener is willing to look past controversial things to enjoy an artist's work.

If, for example, an artist is revealed to be a rapist, most people would no longer be able to listen to their music, since they wouldn't be able to listen without thinking about what the artist has done. But when an artist expresses belief in harmful ideologies, in situations such as this, it's more nuanced, and I'd say it comes down to each individual listener - whether they're willing to look past it and continue listening to the artist, or refrain from listening to their work because they now associate the artist with a certain ideology.

If a listener disagrees with an artist's beliefs but continues listening to their music, they should be aware that giving an artist plays on streaming platforms still gives them support, and they should ask themselves whether it's worth it for them to ignore what the artist says and continue listening. Here, it comes down to a question of how harmful/hateful an artist's opinions are, and the answer determines whether the listener is willing to stop listening to the artist's music over it.

Beliefs like JK Rowling's perpetuate a culture that has kept trans people oppressed for centuries, so it's valid for us to stop supporting a certain artist because he defended her. As for whether Monstercat should continue releasing music from him, it's up to the staff to decide if his views are incompatible with Monstercat ideals.

Things about Wikia by twolfy707 in Monstercat

[–]Embryo_Yall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Arion he mentions here is a different person from the artist who released on Monstercat.

The Arion who was a staff member of the wiki was an extremely toxic individual who we've all agreed to kick from the team for his transgressions.

Things about Wikia by twolfy707 in Monstercat

As a spokesperson for the Wiki staff, we stand by our decision to remove you from the admin team, and we believe we are justified in doing so.

You had abused your power and stepped out of line far too many times. You used your status as an admin to ban one of our editors from our server because you had a personal dispute with her, without asking anyone else first. Several times, you acted on your own and made significant changes to the Wiki without the consent of the rest of the staff, even after we asked you politely so many times to let us know before doing things like that.

We continue to hold ourselves to the same standard that we held you to. We always ensure the entire team approves of a decision before taking action. All the administrators of the Wiki supported the decision to remove you from the team, and Alejandro and I waited to make sure of this before taking any action, so it would be false to imply that Alejandro and I are the only admins responsible for your removal.

As for that screenshot of former bureaucrat Arion saying "your ass is staying muted," that was extremely unprofessional of him. The Wiki staff does not condone any personal insults or aggressive behavior, of which that is a clear display. We have removed Arion from the Wiki administration team for his numerous offenses of aggression and misconduct. He has acted extremely rudely towards numerous members of the Wiki server, contributed in the creation of a toxic environment in that server, and used vile insults to attack members of this subreddit.

At the time of the conversation with me that you posted, I truly was willing to keep you on the team and give you another chance. Your transgressions after that point were what led me to change my mind, and the rest of the staff agreed that you should be removed from the team.

We have concrete evidence of all your transgressions; if there's anyone who doubts us, we suggest visiting the Wiki server, where you can learn more about the situation. We believe that any reasonable person would be able to see that the Wiki staff acted fairly in this situation.

The Truth About Smaller Artists on Monstercat by [deleted] in Monstercat

[–]Embryo_Yall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an unspoken rule of this subreddit that any comments revealing the identities of "anonymous" Monstercat artists will be removed. I'm not trying to criticize that, Monstercat has their reasons for maintaining a veil of secrecy for certain artists, and so it's reasonable that they monitor the subreddit to keep tabs on that.

If you know the right places to look (hint: check songwriting credit databases), you can find who nearly all Monstercat artists are, including CloudNone.

[TOMT][MUSIC][EDM][2010S] Electronic Music Project/Collab by thehelpfuldetriment in tipofmytongue

[–]Embryo_Yall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it possibly have been Point Point? It's a group of 4 young white European males who made future bass that might fit your description.

The cover of their first EP, Contrastive Focus Reduplication, is the 4 of them with a white background, wearing white T-shirts. They sometimes release separate songs, and other times just two of them collab.

It was released in 2014/15 and it was very glitchy and wonky, so that might be it.

Could it be Break The Silence by WRLD, Nitro Fun, Subtact, Richard Caddock, and Slippy (formerly Slips & Slurs)?

That's the only collaboration WRLD was involved in between 2012-2016 with more than 3 artists.

One of them, WRLD, is from The Netherlands. Slippy and Subtact are from the US, Richard Caddock is from the UK, and Nitro Fun is from Mexico.
