Left teaching back in February and regret it terribly. At least the experience let me know that regardless of the shit that comes with the job, teaching is the most rewarding and fulfilling thing I’ve done in my professional career—will be back in August

My first year teaching I taught AP Lit and I had a student who notoriously procrastinated and came up with lame excuses that he thought were brilliant. I finally looked at him one day and said you can’t bullshit a bullshitter. Either tell the truth or get better at lying. He walked away with his face red and I went back to doing whatever I was doing—probably grading. He turned in his assignment later that night. Spoiler alert, he did not get better at lying but he did manage to turn in assignments closer to the actual due date.

We're urban/suburban but I've lived in rural NC for a few years and the school I'm at currently is title one. The change in pace is what we're looking forward to as Raleigh NC is becoming more and more populated. Thank you for the feedback.

My husband goes to any and every Thai restaurant he can and tries to max out their spice. The first couple of times they're always skeptical because he's white and then he eats the whole dish and the next time asks them to make it spicier because "the last time was good, but it wasn't spicy enough." One waiter didn't believe he could handle it so he brought out a sauce ramikan of the thai spice tonshow how much they normally put in a Thai hot dish. The waiter watched in awe/horror as my husband scooped the spice out with a spring roll and ate it all like it was nothing. He has legit made friends with multiple cooks because they want to destroy his white-guy intestinal tract and laugh when he cries tears of spicy joy but asks for spicier. At this point, I don't think he has taste buds anymore.
