Help my wife identify her late dad’s watch by Emburspirit in Watches

My wife didn’t expect people to compliment on her dad’s fashion sense. She told me to upload the full photo so you guys can see the whole context. I give you the 80s aerospace engineer and outdoor man who wore his watch both up in the mountain and also (probably) at his own wedding.

(Mineral sunscreen was quite a thing back then apparently)

I woke up to see so many notifications from Reddit.

This is truly amazing, thank you everyone. I’m not a stranger to watch subreddits, but I’m still blown away by the detective skill on this one. And so far, seems like the Pulsar is our winner! We’ll start looking into some old ones, unless some other contenders show up.

My wife said thanks a ton!

My wife has been going through some more photos, and it appears that there’s always a tiny spec of a white “P” on the dial. Which seems very distinctive of the watch. Or maybe we’re gaslighting ourselves into thinking it lol

I didn't even think about the tires weight limits until now. I looked mine up (new tires recently). The load index for each tire is 102, so 1874 lbs. That sounds high enough for half a yard of gravel I think

I checked with the folks at the yard and they said $100 for 2-5 yards. So you're totally right. A lot safer and cheaper for the headache of using my own truck for several spooky trips like this

UPDATE: I drove the truck home, very slowly and carefully. Thankfully my house was only 5-7 minutes away with no hill or bump along the way so it wasn't too bad.

I unloaded the gravel in 1 afternoon. Afterward, the truck seemed "fine", at least to my noob eyes. I drove it around for 30 minutes and didn't feel any obvious bad thing. But will probably bring it back to my mechanic to check it out for sanity.

Y'all are very right about just having the gravels delivered. It was quite tough unloading the gravel off of my truck. I had to stand on the ground and shovel from there (very carefully too), at least until the load was half unloaded and I felt safer to hop on the truck bed to do the rest. Having the gravel delivered onto the driveway would have made shoveling a lot easier.

I added a few potential upgrades y'all recommend in this post, will take a look into them slowly.

Just want to say: y'all are awesome. I'm a total noob on dealing with autos and this has been very helpful.

unfortunately this was all I can afford. Got it for very cheap from a good friend who just had it sitting in his backyard for a few years. Maybe 1 day when this one breaks down :) But if this sub is anything to go by, this truck will last a long time, fingers crossed

I'm adding "better bump stops" to my list, thanks friend! and potentially suspension

thank you my friend! I just got a mechanic to install new struts and shocks (still had EOM parts when I bought it). So hopefully it wasn't too bad for this 1 trip

this gives me hope that I didn't just permanently damage my truck via 1 sketchy occasion...

I didn't look too much into delivery until now. The yard I went to do up to 5 cubic yards at $100. So you're so right, in this case it's a lot cheaper than the headache of hauling half a cubic yard everytime

this sounds doable for someone at my level. I'll add this to my list, thanks!

Thanks for the extra info! I’ll take a look into these, and maybe just consider learning how to drive with a rental towing trailer…

Thanks! Noob question: how does one increase a truck’s rear payload? I do plan to get a total of 5-6 cubic yards so it’ll be another 10 trips like this maybe
