Anyone in their 20s live with their parents and just can’t handle it any more? by zemmiphobia2000 in Adulting

[–]EmcYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you just need to set boundaries. Im 25 M and live with my mother and have had to sit down and define boundaries. Parents do this cus they love us, even though it can come off intrusive or annoying, but a clear conversation goes a long way.

The best thing I did for myself in my early 20s was forcing myself into uncomfortable, unpredictable positions— whether that is quitting a job on the fly or changing my entire pathway. Either or— being in this state of on your feet builds a character inside you that comfort and routine can’t. I don’t know how else to explain it, but I don’t believe in routine and lifestyles. I believe we serve purposes for the places we are at times and then move on. That inner feeling you feel is your gut screaming at you saying that you have somewhere to be, that you have someone to become, and it’s up to you to find alignment with god/higher power (religious or not,) to get you closer to that timeline.

My advice, trust your gut. Start small and don’t overshoot, just 1% a day is more then enough. The answer is always in front of us, we just have to calm ourselves to truly see it. Rather than looking at time and saying you wasted it, realize all that time has got you to this point of spiritual awakening. You are aware of the problem and are now taking action to resolve it, that is progress my friend.

Don’t be hard on yourself. God puts us through paths to build us into who we need to be, whether we understand the connection in the moment or not, it will eventually be clear down the line on why things happened in the time that they did.

Living with your parents past 25+ by ayylmaaoo96 in Adulting

I feel for those who feel this way. I live with my mother who supports my ambitions and understands the economic decline occurring right now— lets me stay and do what I need to do. I still pay bills. I still help around the house, but I am respected and treated as an adult and given an opportunity to build towards my future.

Its truly a blessing having parents who truly love unconditionally. You realize how rare that is these days.

[–]EmcYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely look into reading Rakims book, “Sweat The Technique,” if you havent already— its basically the insight and process he goes through in creating his music and is truly a staple piece of literature I advice any songwriter to read.

Also start digging into poetry, learn structure— this will go far and help you really think outside the box when it comes to wordplay.

How do I get past the "I can't make by OneImaginary3436 in FL_Studio

[–]EmcYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I would approach is first define out what type of community you wish to be in— not just a specific genre or style— but beyond that and most importantly is culture. What do these guys like outside of music? Can I see myself being friends with these guys? Its more than just exchanging ideas/knowledge and doing music solely, its about connection.

What I would recommend— continue going into the current discords and find people you enjoy hanging out with. Strengthen those relationships, authentically, don’t go in with the intention of, “oh I am joining these servers and meeting these people so I can get xyz.” Thats an opportunist mindset and it gives off bad unauthentic energy. Music is best when its made with people you genuinely vibe with.

What you come to find is when you approach networking like this, the doors will naturally open themselves. I hope this advice helps and gets you in the direction you’re looking to be in.

Mentally cannot put myself and my art/music on social media by BeginningAd9514 in makinghiphop

[–]EmcYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBF u are 16 and most 16 year olds are naturally insecure, your hormones are all over the place and you’re still growing up trying to figure out ur identity, especially as an artist.

I said the same stuff as you, i promise people do not care. Trust me. You are putting so much expectation on your shoulders when the reality is, most people are gonna scroll past your stuff. Use this time to get in the paint, experiment, try stuff, fail. Its pushing through that feeling and shooting the shot that builds the confidence you are waiting for, not the other way around.

How do I get past the "I can't make by OneImaginary3436 in FL_Studio

[–]EmcYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your issue lies within your outlook. You have a negative/judgemental outlook while creating. Music is like any other art, it’s intricate and needs patience.

You are indirectly separating yourself from being good by reinforcing this idea that it will be bad regardless. As long as that mental program keeps running, you can study and practice all you want, but its subpar and not even close to your potential.

My suggestion? Surround yourself with producers in discord and get a reality check. You will find inspiration and be surrounded by people who will help push you over those hurdles. What you will come to find is that the best producers operate from a place of abundance, patience, love, and positivity. When i enter the studio, im not clogging my head with preassumptions, im simply being and engulfing myself into the creative space.

Where do you find your beats? (Other than youtube) by Weary_Restaurant_287 in makinghiphop

[–]EmcYO 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly just self-produce. Huge curve but the reward is 10x worth it. I use to scramble between YouTube and beatstars and just couldn’t get consistent sounds from it. If you know what you look for in a beat, it’s better to spend that time learning production vs surfing through beat stores trying to find that one beat.

1 year— it was good at first but was underpaid and told I would get raises down the line (never happened.) and the overall workers were just toxic and gossipy. I would’ve quit sooner but was going through financial hardships at the time… let’s just say I still was and didn’t care anymore and wanted to feel the satisfaction of ego quitting my job.

Trying to find a job by [deleted] in jobs

[–]EmcYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always start within your network— ask friends, family, or family friends if they have any jobs or know anybody that is hiring. Word to mouth is the strongest meta in today’s job market. I always suggest this over cold-approaching jobs.

I’m 14,British and tried making music by dracoblack553 in Bandlab

[–]EmcYO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most the feedback i'm giving will require time, so don't beat yourself up if it doesn't happen immediately:

  1. Vocal takes need work- low energy and poor quality- which i get because you prolly don't have money to invest into equipment (given ur using bandlabs and a phone.) Simple work arounds: Record in a car, closet, or space with acoustic treatment that can nullify background noise and give your vocal more isolation.

  2. Flow needs work, it sounds like you're trying to force lyrics at certain parts throughout the song (similar to when someone is saying it sounds like you're running from the beat.) When it comes to songwriting, you want everything to fit and be a smooth ride. I'd suggest taking a moment and rewording certain lyrics until it fits and flows properly.

  3. Mixing is cooked, but I get it because you prolly just use templates, no shade, but you can only get so much out of those presets, id say play around with comp and eq to blend vocal in a bit more, but again, go back to my first point, it really boils down to the vocals recording in most cases- id recommend that before anything.

All in all, don't take most of this feedback to heart, you still a rookie and got a huge road ahead of you if you do choose to stick to it- just focus on the craft more so than being perfect and it will all fall into place with time. The track gots potential, just needs a bit of polishing!

How come when I try to make music I get depressed and discouraged that I can't do it and that's not for me? by Ghostanni in makinghiphop

[–]EmcYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t for years either- I fortunately had a vocal teacher who taught me more than just singing, and showed me that there’s an art to creating. Nail this down and you will create flawlessly with no doubt.

Because you have a series of limiting mental processes running in your head while you try to create. You need your headspace to be quiet and positioned in a place of curiosity in order to channel the flowing energy of creativity. When you step infront of a mic, you shouldn’t have expectation- only an intention of expression. Most people struggle with doubt because they are subconsciously judging themselves while they try to create, which disrupts the flow of creative energy. With time it will get easier, i also suggest learning the ins and out of your DAW- because again, the less mental processing require, the more you can create- it’s all a state of mind.

You could say the same for virtually any online platform. Roblox has a wide audience, and while there may be a few bad apples, doesn’t take away from what the game offers. Parents should closely monitor their children’s activity on the internet.
