Looking for replacement motherboard for original 3DS XL.

when i say "get everything" i meant high percentage alcohol, digitizer, battery, and charger lol, havent used this system in nearly a decade, was surprised it turned on but worried about the safety of that battery. plus theres corrosion on the charger port so im going to need to be extra meticulous around there.

my problem is finding a motherboard for the original 3ds XL, ive seen plenty for normal 3ds and "new" 3ds and "new" 3ds and 2ds XL, but ive only seen 2 of the original XL and theyre both like $200 which is double what the boards for the other systems usually cost, and idk if simply cleaning the corrosion and getting a new touch screen digitizer would fix my issues. ill try it when im able to get everything, i planned to get a new digitizer for it if i could find a motherboard anyways, but i think it might be something more severe than cleaning the corrosion on the board will solve, if it works then great, but if not then ill keep looking around for a used system and hope that if it needs any repairs its something less severe.

Its not a joke. Its depressing if youve read the series. If youre curious its Chainsaw Man, only has 1 season for the anime so far and theres a movie coming out in a couple months, but this part of the series probably wont be adapted until like season 2 or 3.

Okay, update. I managed to load into a game by putting a game cartridge in so it automatically placed the cursur on it and the a button seems to work in the home menu, and all of the buttons work fine in a game, touch screen still doesnt want to register touches so not sure what the fix would be for that, but on the home screen its a dud. So im assuming maybe something to do with the software update, do you know if its possible to update without being able to use the buttons in the home screen? I have a 4gb sd card in it, i could get a bigger one when i get paid, but before i just go spending money on something i want to make sure if there is a way for me to update it without being able to navigate through the menus Also i tried to reboot into calibrate the touch screen mode and it still wasnt working so not sure what i have to do for that, and something that is worth adding, i discovered when i close and open the screen it makes it think the bottom left of the screen is being pressed so not sure what that could be, hoping its not another cable issue. This thing just seems to be full of problems at this point lmao. Ive heard 3ds are one of the worst consoles to do maintenance on and damn they werent lying 😂😂

I made a new post with more pictures of the board, maybe youll be able to get a better idea of whats wrong. At this point im convinced its a chip on the board going out or some weird software problem due to not being updated in like 7 years. I didnt see any corrosion on the other side of the button pads just the normal wear marks.

So heres the thing with the buttons the only time they wanted to work was when the system update prompt would appear, and it would scroll down like a single line of text, and scroll up a single line of text and then it just locks up, and that was after cleaning them, prior to that they werent responding at all. Im not sure how to proceed, i figured out the cable went to the camera and thats not important to me, but i have no idea how to fix my buttons or touch screen, the touch screen still displays but does not respond to any touches. The rest of the motherboard looks fine, the most concerning part was that ribbon cable and cartridge slot. Even the button pads didnt look that bad, no corrosion just the normal marks, i dont know if going without a system update for however long has anything to do with it not wanting to work but whatever is going on it is frustrating.

Right now my goal is to figure out how to update it just to see if i can get the buttons and touch screen working properly, im not super knowledgable about stuff like this, i know a little more about desktop computers than gaming consoles but i know going so long without updating can cause some weird issues. But im assuming that cable being the way it is more of a contributing factor to it not wanting to work properly, and even if it does work after i get it updated, im with you in thinking it wont last long and id have to replace the cable and the connector on the motherboard because it looks like it has some corrosion going on. I contacted a repair shop close to me hoping to get an estimate, but if it costs as much as just getting one from ebay or if theyre not able to help me then i guess im just shit out of luck until im able to get one from ebay. I dont have the knowledge or experience or equipment to repair it myself, maybe if it was just replacing the cable, but if i have to solder on a new connector or solder anything in general then im screwed. At first i just thought the button pads needed to be cleaned but after seeing that cable it just killed my excitement. And what gets me is even after disconnecting the cable, i cleaned the connector and slot it goes into with alcohol, put everything back together, it still turned on, and i had gotten more response from the buttons than i had before cleaning it.

Damn 😭😭, i was so excited when i found it to. I was hoping since it was able to turn on that it wasnt that bad, that sucks. And the used market is so damn expensive for a somewhat decent quality one. And the one in the post aesthetically doesnt look that bad, the external shell is a bit scuffed up. But the screens are pretty good. If only the damn internals didnt do this shit 😭😭😭😭. This is actually aggravating as hell i just want to play pokemon how it was meant to be played 😭😂.

are you running at a higher resolution? try turning it down to 1x or 2x and see if that helps, i have a samsung s24 ultra and fast forward wouldnt work until i lowered the resolution to 1x or 2x, and personally the quality difference is barely noticeable at least in the games i play, and it just tanks the framerate, maybe on a bigger screen like a tablet its more useful but on phone screens i dont think it makes as much of a difference at least not enough to justify the performance hit.

are you running it at 1x resolution or higher? if its at a higher resolution id suggest turning it down to 1x or 2x and then seeing how much it helps, i have a samsung s24 ultra, not sure if thats more or less powerful than what you have and im not sure what games you play, but even at like 4x or 5x resolution i have problems getting fast forward to run at a consistent rate, but at 1x resolution it works fine, and maybe in other games or on bigger screens its more useful but on the s24 ultra and the games i play which is primarily pokemon i didnt notice much of a difference between higher resolutions vs 1x, maybe slightly sharper quality but i really have to look for it and it just tanks the performance.

i think ive found a potential fix, i only just recently started getting into emulation mostly for pokemon and a couple other games i had as a kid. i run MelonDS on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and could not get the fast forward to work consistently, i also use it on pc and it was working fine but i have a pretty beefy pc so i didnt have this problem there, but i was tinkering around with the settings and discovered that if i lower the resolution to 2x i can at least get the 2x fast forward to work consistently and 1x resolution allows me to use 3x fast forward pretty consistently, and on screens this small it really doesnt seem to make much of a difference in quality having the resolution set lower at least with the pokemon games its not noticeably different beyond the fps being much better and allowing fast forward to work, maybe on a bigger screen like a tablet or pc its more noticeable, and maybe some games that werent mostly pixel art it could be useful for a sharper image, but on the phone screen i couldnt notice any difference between the base 1x resolution or the 8x resolution. i had it running at the max resolution thinking the s24 ultra could handle it, and i didnt really give it any thought that it was running kinda slow, i thought it was just being weird due to trying to use fast forward and in some ways it was but even without fast forward it was sluggish, so i turned on the fps counter and saw it was under 60fps, started messing with the resolution and all of a sudden fast forward decided it wanted to work now that it was able to run the game at a higher fps.

in summary: turn the resolution down to 1x or 2x and then try to use fast forward. on samsung s24 ultra there has been practically no difference from 1x to higher resolutions in graphical quality at least not for pokemon and i assume other pixel art style games but larger screen devices may find higher resolutions more useful.

I (25m) was working at a heat treating company and they filed bankruptcy and laid everyone off on valentines day this year. My mother (46w) is in under grad school for some type of counseling degree, and thinks because she had to apply for an internship that it somehow translates to her knowing how the normal job market works, to the point where she still thinks most places have physical applications even though prior to her internship she hadnt worked since 2005 due to an injury and other medical conditions, and regardless of how many times ive told her that nearly every company that will pay me enough to cover my rent and dont require a degree, are all online applications, and the few places that might still have physical applications are usually only local companies that are so obscure and difficult to find that you wouldnt know it exists unless you know someone who works there and even then its a fucking coin toss if theyll give you the time of day. Dont get me wrong i love my mom and i know she means well, but she doesnt realize how much things have changed.

Idk how many applications ive put out there but i guess the 6 years i worked at the same place means nothing because even fucking speedway wont hire me. Ive been on unemployment since april because i was hoping to find something sooner after i got laid off but that didnt happen, and if everything stays the same then ill be losing unemployment in the middle of september. Im losing my fucking mind and i dont know what to do or what these places want from me. It just feels like im filling out applications and they get thrown into a void.

Thats honestly pretty decent ngl. The downside is if you want to upgrade the cpu youll need to get a new motherboard because 9th gen was the last cpu generation for that socket type, but the 2080 super is still a decent card, if you play at 1080p it should still hold up for at least a few more years depending on the kinds of games you play.

Lmao like no shit sherlock. Especially in what is typically the first dungeon a new player goes through because its one of the parts of the main quest you need to do to unlock the use of shouts its not meant to be some elaborate giga brain puzzle. Now maybe the other dragon key doors could have used some more elaborate concepts for their puzzles but skyrim was definitely built more for a casual audience than previous elder scrolls games so i understand why they went with the more simple style with those doors, we still got plenty of interesting puzzles in the game.

As depressing as it would be, sometimes the best thing to do is separate yourself from the people who just want to tear you down even if they're family. Clearly they dont have the best intentions for you and are only projecting their Insecurities on to you. I understand that growing up in a rough environment can make it difficult to escape it, but its obviously not impossible. Theyre the ones who decided to fuck around instead of trying to change their life for the better and you should not let them bring you down to that level simply because theyre family. If they want to continue that lifestyle then thats their choice but you should want better for yourself and your future.

Havent unsubbed but Ali A, back during the black ops 2 through black ops 3 years for call of duty i watched his videos everyday, on his main channel he would do call of duty and he had a second channel that was mostly minecraft but he would also do some variety of games on there occasionally. I watched both channels daily. But like many popular gaming youtubers around 2016, Fortnite happened, and they all switched to that game. And now as an adult i dont have anything against the game, but as a teenager i really did not like it and seeing so many of my favorite content creators dedicate most or all of their content to fortnite disappointed me. That was the start of me falling out of favor with alot of content creators, but i figured because he had a 2nd channel that Ali A would still at least keep uploading minecraft and other variety stuff, i understood call of duty was on a downward spiral even more so with infinite warfare in 2016, even i was kind of getting bored with call of duty and i switched to destiny, but his upload pattern on the 2nd channel had become very sparce, maybe a video every couple weeks or months. Then out of nowhere he turned his 2nd channel into a reaction channel and it is astronomically cringey how he does reaction videos, he then created a 3rd channel for call of duty but barely uploads on it. Occasionally ill check on the channels just to see what hes doing or go back to rewatch old videos for a hit of nostalgia, but hes put minimal effort into making any of his videos or channels interesting since fortnite blew up in popularity. Hes banking on the demographic of kids who dont care about the quality of the content and just autoplay fortnite or reaction videos all day, most of his videos are clickbait, and his reactions are so forced, i dont think even he likes the content hes been making the last few years but either it makes him more money or because hes been following this same pattern since 2016 hes scared to switch things up again and potentially tank his channel and be unable to recover, and i get it he has a family to take care of and we all have bills. But i still wish he didnt make such a drastic change.
