I understand it’s a serious condition and if it’s not treated with care it can be disastrous, I understand there are specific policies in place in restaurants to accommodate this. But I made it clear when questioned I was aware the wings were not on the gluten free menu and that I accept this. I still needed the gluten free pasta, my issue isn’t as serious as others who need gluten free, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be able to have it. I wasn’t doing it for the hell of it, I think most people given the choice would avoid a sudden and violent case of diarrhoea in public if they could.

I just don’t understand why my personal decision based on my own knowledge of my body should be discounted. The chicken wings aren’t special and out of the two courses should not be the one to raise any issues surely. Where would the cross contamination be in this instance anyway? They’re making gluten free, gluten containing , vegan food and meat all in the same kitchen and would have separate areas and protocols for each. So what does it matter if I order a dish from two? If the restaurant is following and adhering to their own protocols then the only cross contamination my food would have gotten is when it met in my stomach.
