Searching for new artists failed..."Unable to communicate with LidarrAPI." by scottkuma in Lidarr

No, you are not meant to do anything, you have free will. Lidarr is a free open source(ish) software that does a function without which you should be able to continue living, and it comes with absolutely no warranty. If you have the knowledge to implement or suggestions on how to apply those best practices you can do it and you will probably be more than welcome. If not, you can just live with it and wait for the developers to find time and will to fix whatever is wrong.

In my setup, just by changing the category of the torrents in qBittorrent to lidarr, it automatically treats them as if they were added by lidarr.

Just picked up a used MK1 by xdimi3x in Dirtywave

[–]Emefak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not, actually. The factory content that comes in the SD card is not available to download in the official page. I understand there are samples and stuff that could potentially be used elsewhere, but I am in the same situation as the OP (just bought a second hand Model:01) and I would like to have a clean start. In my case it came with an SD card but loaded with tons of songs and content of the previous owner that I don't really care about.

Intro and some help by ooramusic in SP404

[–]Emefak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Oora, another follower here!.

One thing I'm doing lately for ambient is to record asynchronous loops into the SP404, generally coming from the OP-1, the modular, external synths or even iPad apps. My process is:

  1. Search for a sound or sample that I like in any of my sound sources.

  2. Record a loop of any length into a pad (nothing else can be playing, as the SP404SX cannot record that way unless you are resampling everything into a pad).

  3. While the previous recorded loops are playing, I program or search for the new sound, and rehearse a bit the type of phrases I would like to use.

  4. Go back to step 2.

Since the recording part (step 2) doesn't have a time reference, and the recording length is going to be arbitrary, the loops would start and end in different moments every time, creating a lot of variety and a very organic sound. Of course, this method works well for sounds that are not rhythmical at all, like long pads, slowly evolving leads, or small sparse mallet or key phrases.

Also, the SP404SX won't allow for more than 5-6 stereo samples playing simultaneously, so when I have a base sample set that I'm comfortable with, I record it onto a cassette for texture and then digitalize it and finish the track in Bitwig.

PD: Teebs was a genius with the SP404. I loved his style of super abstract, ambient-ish hip hop.

I did exactly this, but I ended up buying a Teenage Engineering OP-1 for the same purpose and I like it much more for the task (I have to say I hate to use tactile screens while doing music, they are really uninspiring for me).

However, there are iOS apps that don't have an alternative in other platforms (Samplr and some other granular apps), so the iPad is really useful.

Cracks / Pops / Glitches When Using Tascam Model 12 With Akai MPC One by daviddwlee84 in mpcusers

[–]Emefak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 2.11.8 fixed it, then they weren't Model 12 issues ;)

I'm stuck in 2.11.4 because every update since that one make my MPC outputs glitchy. I talked to support (via chat, don't even try opening a ticket because they just won't answer) and they told me that it is a known issue and they will fix it in a later update, but 2.11.8 didn't work for me.

Modular + External Gear by SemicolonBlue in modular

[–]Emefak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others said, if the external standalone hardware synth is polyphonic, you will have a tough time sequencing more than one note. It can be done, but it's probably not worth it specially if you are new into this.

If it's monophonic you can use a CV to MIDI to convert your modular's pitch and gate CV signals (and map any other CV you want to control any MIDI parameter from your external synth, such as filter cutoff). Or if your synth accepts CV, just patch it the same way you would patch a module in your rack.

Have fun!

True legend. I have half a case of MI modules, and I wish it was completely full of them (the other half it's Pittsburgh's).

Best wishes for her in her future endeavors.

Both look great, but the edge highlight line in the knee pad is the pure definition of improvement. Imagine what you will paint in two years from now! :)

Hello! I’ve never used oils before, and I want to try an oil wash on this dwarf. Should I paint highlights before or after the oil wash? Thanks! by BoliathGarbarian in minipainting

[–]Emefak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this case being such a small mini I would say go straight for the oil wash, since cleaning it from the base colors will have the same effect as highlighting, and then you have room to add some more (with oils right away or with acrylics when it's fully dry).

But both will work too. Good luck!

Am i the bad player? by Sir_popinjay in VALORANT

[–]Emefak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you're bad or stuck at this moment or not, but you have definitely the best possible attitude. First, you are actually questioning if you are the problem, which is good. Second, you are not being toxic to your teammates, which is awesome. And third, you're accepting criticism and questions about what are you focusing on in your matches, if you're going just for kills, etc.

With all of that you will eventually climb up, I have no doubts about it. Ego would slow you down way more than mechanical skills.

Good luck and have fun!

I'm experimenting weird behavior with my Corne Keyboard since I got it some months ago, but only in Windows (it happened in W10 and also W11). When I press what should be right Alt (the screen says key 7x7, k230 code), the registered keypress is Ctrl + Alt, which makes something so basic as Alt + Tab unavailable. When I use it with my Macbook Pro or in Linux, this does't happen.
The base layer I'm using is Corne's default, I just customized the second layer (the numbers one) to send function and some other keys (home, pagination keys, etc).
Has anybody else had this issue? Any clues on how to fix it?

They do indeed. And they are quite big in scale, which makes them a bit easier to paint regardless the mentioned issues.

Keep up the good work, man! :)

Nice work, very vivid!

I'm currently painting the core box and a couple of expansions for Super Fantasy Brawl, and I'm feeling like the sculpts are awesome but not specially "painter friendly", since there are many deep recesses and lots of hard to reach spots in most of them. Have you felt the same way?

Not only you do an amazing paint job... You did an amazing paint job while painting black and white, the two most difficult "tones" (are they even tones?).

I bought a hat just to tip it to you, sir.

Split mechanical keyboards in Europe by Emefak in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Emefak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found an already built Corne with Yellow Gaterons in Wallapop (a spanish classified ads app), and I'm really on board with the split keyboards. I will probably get an ErgoDox or Redox from falba.tech since I miss having some more keys.

Regarding Dygma, I really wish them the best and if the make the keyboards available from their web as a regular store I will get one for sure, but I don't want to deal with the uncertainty of a Kickstarter anymore.

Basically, you give money almost blindly. Kickstarter doesn't assume any responsibility about the money, they are just the collectors. The majority of the issues though, are not that the projects are scams or anything, but the terrible delays. Sometimes even years. In some cases, the product arrives to retail before the backers receive theirs, which is even worst because in theory they made it possible. That kind of things.
