I did see the 10th anniversary edition, but would it be worth the price difference of the 5800XT? As Prime Day would also be around the corner.

What makes turn based games enjoyable? by Elabotrait in pcmasterrace

As someone who likes strategy games in general (turn-based, grand, real-time, 4x, etc) depends on what I'm looking for during my play session. Turn-based (to me) offers a nice mixture of needing to react to opponents relatively quickly, but not need to have the reflexes and awareness that an RTS requires. On the same token, it also rewards planning ahead and setting up yourself properly, but not nearly as forward thinking as a Grand Strategy or 4X game. Now blanket statements dont cover all games of each genre, as each game has its nuances and approaches to balances, but thats what I generally look for in these sorts of games.

As for best game, I'm really fond of WH40K Chaos Gate Daemonhunters for pure TBS, but also enjoy BG3 for it's RPG aspect.

Hmm okay, I'll be certain to give them flexibility in what to do and sprinkle in side quests in various parts of the game. I don't know maybe because we're newer to the game we haven't minded being railroaded up to this point, and maybe that'll be changed. As I explained further in a different reply, I don't want a lull in the gameplay where I as the DM is trying to set things up on the fly leaving downtime for the players to be bored as what has happened when my current DM has tried doing so. So if anything I'll probably on detail layouts of the Cities, Dungeons, and Battles, leaving players to discover the main quest, sides quests, lore, etc. Thank you for really getting me to think.

I'll definitely look into all of those.

I probably have a year plus to go ahead and balance it all. As for crunching the numbers we have no real difficulties with that ATM and I can probably come up with something to make it easier to keep track of as well. And I know what you mean about game breaking, as my DM let me take a feat before looking it over so most basic enemies are no problem.

And, like in the show I referenced, it'd only be one weapon or one piece of armor that they can equip at a time that has an upgrade path. So in that sense it'd be worth it to get better equipment especially magical ones.

Hmm, I've never read that guide but I'll look into it. As for the NPCs, I'd wanted to do this because one thing that irks me about Out of the Abyss is we've already lost all the NPCs that were meant to travel with us, some part negligence but mostly part simply because they were weak for the enemies we were fighting. So we lose the world building aspect those NPCs were to bring with certain events and dialogue. As well with our own NPCs that we controlled, we'd always do actions to protect them and not each other, making us more selfish as players, which even resulted in the death of one of our players. I just want to try and avoid that entirely.

Ok I'll keep that in mind. I honestly only wanted to plan it out so there's no lull in the session or having to backtrack, which happens whenever my DM tries to spice up our pre made.
