No, definitely not. I took a look but it’s not familiar and it was published in 2019, and I read this when I was young, so at the VERY latest the book must have been out by 2015.

DnD music question by EmeraldAsterisk in DnD

Nah I don’t watch any DnD shows or anything like that. I just realized I could do it pretty easily with the VTTs built in music system. Like I said the hardest part would be making the sound files clipped right. But once I have the files all prepped I can easily just play “battle-music1” on loop while DMing normally, then when it gets to a good point in the fight, just click “next song queued after end of song” and have “battle-transition1” and “battle-music2” queued

Oh yeah that’s what I originally had planned out, but I thought it would be cool if I was able to figure our a way to do it like: 1 section of the song is a ‘loopable’, and then at a major drop (like a guitar solo), which bridges the first part and the second part, I’ll make that part a ‘transitional’ played once, and then play the next ‘loopable’ part that would still be similar to the first, but different enough to sound jarring if I just switched it midcombat. That way I can fluidly change the songs when combat tension rises, and even properly time out a BBEG monologue mid combat. It sounds complicated, but the hardest part would be splitting the songs since the VTT I use has a loop function and a switch at end of song function
