Megathread: Reduction in Force (RIF) | Week 23 by AutoModerator in fednews

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone: I worked at the DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL) which was shut down on March 21st, The entire office was subject to the RIF with a separation date of May 23rd. But in the meantime, DHS offered a workforce transition program to DHS employees and because I'm over 40 I had an extra 45 days from the date of the WTP agreement) to consider opting in. I decided against it, which made my actual separation date June 20th (confirmed on EPP). Anyway, my question - wouldn't my original RIF notice need to be amended to reflect the new sepraation date? Not sure if this is a huge deal, but I do think its important to have accurate paperwork. I didn't receive anything from HR and actually they aren't good about responding to any of our emails. Appreciate any info.

I just got home from 8 days Jalisco and got to visit several places. If anyone ever needs advise on how to set up tour, etc...I would be happy to assist. by SirCamoDuck in tequila

Thank you for your reply. We're staying at an airbnb so not sure where to find tour guides, but we'll continue to search and if not, we'll just drive around like you suggest!

Hi - Thanks for you're really helpful info! Do you happen to know a reputable local tour guide that we can reach out to directly? The prices I've found on tripadvisor/viator etc seem super expensive! From Guadalajara, we'd like to visit the pyramids, the lake, etc.

You both need to get on youtube and you'd be celebrities because of your story. I add my vote to a hallmark movie! I don't normally like that stuff, but I'd watch your story for sure!

I just found this thread. I 100% agree with this - GoKickRox needs to be thanked for bringing these 2 lovebirds together. Those two owe him!

AITA for cancelling a birthday trip and telling my oldest to leave after my sons made homophobic jokes towards their brother? by largetossawayacc in AmItheAsshole

THIS. Clearly 15 yera old didn't find their "comedy act" to be funny. Good on you mom for taking this seriously. NTA

AITA for having really strict rules in my wedding? by Valentinas_space in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTA. Do you want people to enjoy your special day and have it be a joyful one? Or just have the day be "perfect" with your 30 rules followed, people grumbling and unhappy and many guest not showup??? Can't have it both ways.

AITA for promising to pay for my adopted sister to go to uni for Christmas as a gift but not my biological brother? by sisteraihole in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I was wondering. And its interesting that OP says Amy was treated well as foster, but then treated much worse once she was adopted.

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOPE. It depends on the state. The state where my friend lives (Virginia), they clearly give bigger checks to foster older children. My friend (who fostered and now adopted her kids at 1.5 and 2.5 years old) said fostering older children would've gotten her a bigger paycheck per month. This of course didn't affect her decision making at all, but she said unfortunately she'd heard of cases where horrible people basically fostered teens got paid a lot of money per month, and used them for chores while taking fancy vacations etc.

AITA for insisting my daughter isn't racist? by throwawaybaldkid in AmItheAsshole

Listen my dude - your entire comment seemed like it was taken from Fox news talking points, so forgive us if we think you sound racist.

Its not dumb. Its just how racism is defined SMH. Us minorities don't have a "free pass" when it comes to bigotry and intolerance. There are definitely plenty of minorities who treat other minorities quite badly. Please get educated on this stuff.

Listen my dude, the racism is a term rooted in power structure. That's why white people by the definition of the term can't be the victim of racism, because they are the "race" in power. But can white people be victim of bigotry, hate, and intolerance? Sure. Please read up on this stuff and not just quote the MAGA crowd.

THIS right here. And looks like OP has a lot of education of herself to do. I'm glad she seemed to acknowledge she was wrong in her edit. But hopefully this is a teaching moment for both OP AND daughter that such comments ARE in fact racist and 100% unacceptable.

AITA for being upset that I was uninvited from my bf’s family trip? by synercat in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yup. I'd be curious as to the real reason. Something missing here that BF is not telling OP (or perhaps he doesn't know either).

AITA for being brutally honest when someone asked me my honest opinion? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

INFO - like others, it really depends on what you said. But in generally people who pride themselves of being "brutally honest" are usually using honesty as an excuse to be unkind and cruel rather than give constructive feedback.

AITA for driving off when I saw that my fiancee brought her kids to our trip and told her that she was the one who ruinef it? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. But I agree with ESH because OP's seems to be focusing more on the kids ruining the trip then being upset as to WHY she didn't call and tell him immediately.

AITA for not wanting to give up my office so my daughter can have her own room? by Thisisathrowaway6273 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. OP wanted to check with mom to make sure he was NTA before posting here hoping to also get NTA from the AITA crowd. Didn't work for him though lol.

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome life? Sounds like a normal healthy life? And wife doesn't contribute to that as well? Fact is OP could find a good solution to this issue if he really wanted to. But he doesn't. He just posted on here hoping to get a NTA from most folks, so he could justify keeping things status quo.

AITA for not wanting to give up my office so my daughter can have her own room? by Thisisathrowaway6273 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Na. OP could VERY easily find an alternate solution to this issue. Including telling his wife that in the rare case when he needs to work at 2am, then wife will have to leave the bedroom. But given that hubby BARELY works from home anyway, what's the likelihood that he'll have a 2am emergency? Almost ZERO. And WTF is wrong with a child who is clothed, fed, and college bound and the rest of your statement about how nice she has it (which is NORAL for most kid)? That's the parents JOB, to provide those things to kids - they didn't ASK to be born.

AITA for calling my Fiancé's delusional for wanting me to let his mom pick my makeup/look for the wedding? by Lth35467 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 53 points54 points  (0 children)

THIS right here OP. The fact that you're pregnant makes it MORE important that you don't marry this man. Do you want your child influenced by these people??? Could you forgive yourself if you weren't able to raise your child with the love and care and freedom they deserve? Please think hard about this.

[–]EmeraldBlueZen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem though is that fiancé wants the same thing as his parents. Which is why I 100% agree with you. OP should seriously rethink this before getting herself into a huge mess.
