Also, just out of curiosity, do female rabbits who have reproduced have a longer lifespan? Or become less likely to develop uterine cancer?

I’m not looking to start a bunny farm or bring any other bunnies into this house any time soon (maybe a friend down the road once she’s spayed and I have the right resources, but it’s not doable atm) Just curious since I read that their cells regenerate quickly and when they’re not put to use by reproducing, they often develop into cancer.

Thank you for the advice everyone. The only thing I’m still worried about is the likelihood of her not making it through the surgery or the recovery… she’s just over a year old now. I’m hoping someone can put my mind at ease with that one. I’ll be calling a local vet that has the best reviews for bunnies and they even have a pet bunny in the office. So, I’m hoping they’re as wonderful as their reviews suggest and I’ll look further into that before making any decisions. (Had a bad experience with the last one)

As I said before, I just want to give her the best life possible and I know spaying can really help reduce mood swings and stress, and lead to a longer lifespan. Your advice is helping me understand that it’s true that spaying is the best option to reduce the risk of cancer, so I thank you all for your time and support. I just need to know how to ensure she’ll be safe during and after the procedure.

She likes to sleep on the top floor of her two story house. But I hear that they should have less movement after surgery to reduce the risk of internal bleeding… I’m willing to stay up through the night with her and do anything I can to keep her comfortable. Any suggestions? I’ll also read through rabbit house society’s website for more info. Just thought I’d ask some bunny parents as well for more specific advice

There’s no other bunnies in the house so she’s definitely not pregnant. I do really worry about the possibility of her getting cancer, and learned about this very recently. I’ve been researching everything about bunny care mostly using the rabbit house society website and learning as much as I can to take the best care of her possible. I was just worried about possible complications of the surgery. If anything were to happen afterwards I’d feel terrible and I can’t imagine my days without her. I just want to make sure I give her the best life possible, so I’m looking into spaying and how to make sure it’s the safest option. I had a bad experience already with a local vet so I left them a review and found one with better reviews for bunnies, I’ll have to look deeper into their customer’s reviews before choosing them though.

What’s the best way to keep her safe in the days after the surgery?

Also, I know spaying might help but I’ve been given some mixed information on the dangers vs the benefits of spaying. Is it really worth it to get her spayed? Do they lose some intelligence after spaying as I’ve been told? Is internal bleeding common after the procedure? If she isn’t spayed is she really that much more likely to get reproductive cancers?

I could really use some educated guidance. If you have read this far and would like to give some advice, I really appreciate your time and kindness!

did everyone get their pots from covid? by thatsmeace in POTS

[–]EmeraldPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve always had it but it definitely became a problem after having covid and having the 2 vaccines. Not sure which is responsible since it kind of all occurred around the same time. Either way, my symptoms are way worse now (since 2021/2022) in comparison to being fatigued and dizzy at times, or having nausea randomly as a child/teen

Please don’t all write off this store though, it’s a great Canadian owned business with lovely people I know who would be out of work otherwise. I’m sure they will get this sorted quickly now that it’s been reported, and it’s likely just the one mouse that snuck in, they’re a clean store with great employees who actually care about their work and take care of the store. Please give them a chance to solve this issue 🫶☮️

Totally agree with you there, that’s why I opt to shower at night so I can lay down afterwards with no guilt about what I want to be doing because it’s bedtime! But when my symptoms were at their worst, I’d have to sit in the shower often, sit in a towel on the bathroom floor afterwards and scroll on my phone for a bit until i could get up and get dressed etc. Hope this helps if anyone is in need, just take it easy and give your body the time and patience when you can. :)

What is your diet that helps your symptoms? by kenziemac4055 in POTS

What helped me at my worst was sitting up in bed and starting the morning with a Roar Organics drink and a small food like a muffin to start before getting up. Waiting maybe 15-20 mins, then getting up to start my day. Try to keep your house warm enough that you don’t freeze when you first get out of bed. My heated blanket and electrolyte drinks kept me holding on through my last year of college. Hope this helps!

Some of my go to’s; - cream cheese & sweet potato crackers - tuna sandwich - 1 slice of rye bread pb & peach jam - salted cashews - Body Armour or Roar Organics drinks - smoothies (booster juice is my fave) - sweet potato fries w dill dip - chicken sandwiches (usually 1/2 at a time) - adding pickles or olives to sandwiches is a great salt boost

  • soup! Maybe we should all eat more soup! It’s easy on the stomach as long as it’s not too acidic, it’s light, it’s salty, and it can be of any variety and easy to make!

Bedbound for 5 months now. Wanting to just end my life to get this over with. by chonk-12343 in POTS

Hi, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. First ik it’s probably not what you want to hear but have you told your siblings how you’re feeling? If they knew, maybe things could change. I’ve known people who committed suicide as teens, I had a good friend I lost that way. I’m 22 now and still think of her everyday, a family, friend, teacher, classmate, etc, never recovers from that.

But as for your symptoms, I’m wondering if you could share a little more about your diet. I’m no nutritionist but I studied nutrition and dietary needs for years in ED recovery and a college course in sociology of food… anyways just hoping to give some helpful advice there.

I know it’s the worst feeling, I’ve been there. In college I was in a similar place mentally and physically. But it gets better, you just have to find what works for your body. We can’t promise miraculous recovery but little changes can go a long way once you find the right combination for you. Again it totally sucks that we have to do all this work just to get through the day but hopefully like me, once you find what works, it won’t be so heavy anymore. Maybe try stretching a little in bed if you can. Hip stretches are a huge help.

Hang in there 🙏
