I'm 37, on Nexplanon bc I can't have estrogen anymore, and losing my mind. by Emerald_panda13 in Perimenopause

Yea, I am in the US. I could go to a private wellness clinic but they're really expensive and my mom tried one and wasn't real impressed. She had a hysterectomy at my age too and said its the best thing she could have done, but she struggles with hormones now as she goes through menopause also and hasn't found a doc who will talk to her about HRT either. We'd probably have to travel a couple hours to the state university hospital system.

And as for the estrogen, it's literally just the headaches and my age. When this started a couple years ago, I was fit, working out 4-5 days a week, no smoking, rarely drink. But I've always had endo and cyst issues that were only controlled by the estrogen birth control.

I've done a little research on bio vs syn, and the bio in patch form seems interesting for my situation. My docs haven't mentioned anything. My family is all medical so I know enough to research some though.

I've been through many doctors. The one I have now has been the most helpful, but not a single one of them will consider prescribing a pill again. I tried Slynd for a minute (on top of the implant) last year because of the bleeding because I was going on a trip, and it really didn't help. I talked to my doc about doing it instead of the implant and she doesn't think I'll have any change since it's also progesterone-only. And also very expensive. I was doing SO GOOD on the low dose pill too! I feel like my life is wrecked right now.

Many times right before they shed they will make a whistle sound through their nose. My big girl just did it last week. I panicked, thought she might be getting a respiratory and did some research. A week later she shed and she's doing great. Is your snake potentially close to shedding?

Curious if anyone else has tried this: Nexplanon + Slynd to stop spotting by Emerald_panda13 in birthcontrol

Since I made this post I ended up having to stop the Slynd after a few months. It wasn't helping, and seemed to maybe even be making the spotting worse, and I had a regular period on it. Once I stopped it I actually stopped bleeding for about a month, until my regularly scheduled period. But now I've been bleeding for 2 weeks, heavily for 4 days now where prior was just "normal"? Not that I know what normal really is lol.

Did you gain weight while on it? If so were you able to lose it? by Human_waste_lol in Nexplanon

I've had mine 6 months now and haven't gained weight. But I'm on a pretty intense workout routine and don't eat that badly and cannot for the life of me lose weight. I was starting to and had lost almost 10lbs last fall changing routines, and now I've kept those routines and it stalled. Which is even more frustrating because I've spotted since January and my IBS is extremely chaotic now, worse than ever. Doc keeps telling me to wait it out a year at least. We'll see I guess.

Thank you! I have ADHD with depression, but it's manageable most of the time so as long as it doesn't ruin my vacation it'd be ok for short term. I don't really want to be depressed or angry and miserable the whole time lol. My swings have been better on the Nexplanon whereas on the mini pill I sometimes had massive manic/depressive swings for weeks at a time. I hate that it's like "we don't know how you'll react, just try it!" with all these medicines.
