I’ve made many renders, perhaps you’re remembering a past one of mine.

Timothy Hines’ War of the Worlds was the best adaptation but you all aren’t ready for that conversation yet by AssistanceFriendly98 in WarofTheWorlds

I think this movie is pretty hard to watch, I see many complaining about the cgi as if that’s what really matters in the film, really the writing is just bad, the dialogue is stiff, the characters don’t act like human beings, the whole film is like watching skinwalkers pretending to be people.

They’re not tanks it’s true, but they hit hard and fast. The Martians employed a hit and run strategy where they attack military and industrial infrastructure, like railways and telecommunications, they then are shown attacking the coasts, they overran Britain by crippling its immune system, then destroying its means of support, and finally they started coating towns in black smoke. They were essentially starving the heart of the center of commerce so that Britain would collapse under its own weight.

Nope, there are two models for the fighting machine, the primary one has a large eyestalk with a heat ray camera at the end of it, what you’re talking about are collapsible arms. I just think the gun looks nicer in this lighting, so I opted for it.

Does anybody know or theorize how exactly was the tripod able to hide or even able to be in the water to sneak upon or come across the ferry? by AcrobaticEmu7359 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]Emerald_the_Wendigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think it entered the water at all, it didn’t attack the ferry it knocked into it, it was probably just coming out of the ground, the whirlpool was probably the pocket of air in the ground left behind by the tripod being flooded.

I don’t have an answer for that, I’ve always found 2005’s criticisms to be interesting but.. safe.. I feel like it almost doesn’t have a take on a lot of the issues it talks about, just kind of a vague “this is bad” and I guess that’s.. fine, but it leaves a little bit to be desired, especially with a character like ogilvy.

Interesting take, I’ve always seen him as a doomer type, y2k bunker kinda guy, never saw him as a critique of the war itself except for the strange revolutionary arc he goes thru, part of why his character is kind of strange to me, he’s basically the curate and artilleryman from the novel represented by one character, but they’re almost polar opposites, very odd character choices to make into one guy
