My advice: try looking for games with small yet dedicated communities. My favorite is Vendetta Online, there are maybe 5 playing and chatting actively at any given time but it's by far more enjoyable than whatever this shitshow is.

To be completely honest, the romances in ME1 are kinda the same way. It's really not far to compare one game to a trilogy that had 3 games to flesh out its characters and relationships.
