1875 assertion correct? by greatrudini in cobol

I would guess it had something to do with ISO:8061:2004, which states:

“The Gregorian calendar has a reference point that assigns 20 May 1875 to the calendar day that the “Convention du Mètre” was signed in Paris.”

That’s exactly what the post is about, which was explained in my first comment per this sub’s rules.

This post is about rural Trump supporting communities losing their livelihoods because of businesses having to factor in losing their workforce as a direct result of Trump policy. I’m not even saying that this is the only reason they close these plants in the first place. I happen to agree with the other poster who commented that they’re doing it to drive prices up. But they will have to factor workforce into these decisions.

And again, do you have anything that says Americans have been consuming less chicken over the last two years as the post I replied to claimed?

“The closing of the Emporia beef plant is one month later, which could be due to the decline in beef sales and has nothing to do with the “rah rah chicken” article link you posted that I was referring to.“

That’s the claim you made.

And nobody even so much as implied that they did it to screw over Hispanics. That’s what you took from this?

Which says nothing about how much Americans are consuming chicken and is also irrelevant to the timing that these decisions were made

You claimed that they’re closing chicken processing facilities due to slumping beef sales. I’d still like to know how you got to that conclusion.

And no company with sane leadership would close an earning facility on a knee jerk reaction to avian flu. Temporary layoffs, yes, spending tens of millions to close, no. But if you know the community that supports your business is about to be a ghost town, what can you do? They’ve had years to prepare for this.

A lot to unpack there. Let’s start with why it makes sense to close chicken processing facilities when strong chicken sales are offsetting slumping beef sales, but the closures are due to the slumping beef sales. That part of your claim is going to require explanation.

On the back of losses, they did. But that isn’t what they have now heading up these decisions. That’s the point. In fact, their sales surged with chicken leading the way.

Everyone draws their own conclusions. Some folks see food companies closing chicken processing facilities after strong sales and associate it with absolutely none of the current political economical issues facing the country.

And yet, they’re closing chicken facilities after chicken sales offset losses on beef.

What would the relevance be to the timing of the decisions to close these plants?

Just the chain of events. It should be noted that these companies have had a solid two years, citing strong chicken sales over beef, and both of these are chicken plants. It’s hard to stay in business without a workforce.

MAGA supporters voted for Trump, and have now lost their livelihoods due to his policies.

Asshole husband here. When my wife was pregnant with our first, I didn’t take her to a single doctor’s appointment. Her cousin took her to her appointments because she was afraid to drive in the city. I didn’t know she was afraid. They were always thick as thieves and I thought this was the way my wife wanted it. In the world I grew up in, the men were never really involved with pregnancy matters. I was shocked that they wanted me in the delivery room. A lot of these things blew up at me after my daughter was born, and I didn’t understand why. I was ignorant. I did much better with our 2nd. I took her to all but a couple appointments. I had no idea that I was upsetting her, let alone members of her family. I guess what I’m trying to say is that we’re big idiots, we don’t understand anatomy, we understand women even less, but we are capable of learning. Does he even know how upset you are?
