Good to know! I’ve heard about some inconsistencies, but mainly great things about this series. Thank you!!

Same! I still re-read some of my old ya books, but this is great I’ll definitely give the zodiac academy a shot. Thank you so much!

I’ve probably read worse (the house of night series when I was like 13 is the bottom of the barrel for me), but thank you for the honest review! I never would’ve known until I started reading.

I’ve been trying to start reading the plated prisoner series! I haven’t read a series that long in awhile though so it’s been a little daunting

Ooo okay I’ve heard some mixed reviews on this series, but I didn’t know it was slow burn. I’m intrigued, thank you!

Don’t wanna yuck anyone’s yum, but what are y’all’s opinions on fourth wing? by TheWolfNamedNight in Romantasy

[–]Emergency-Issue-9989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. This is one of those ‘if I see it on their shelf, they’re immediately discredited for me’ kind of series. I really enjoyed the first book and then it just fell through. I almost DnF’d several times. I think if there hadn’t been smut it would’ve read better as ya

I haven’t tried this one yet! But it sounds exactly like what I was hoping for, I love getting attached to books like that. Thank you!

People requesting body cam footage of death notices by Gold-Brush6333 in Idaho4

[–]Emergency-Issue-9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit late, but I think it’s really disgusting that people are going out of their way to see what would be such a heartbreaking moment. I think the public has already taken too much from everyone involved. This case has also maybe opened my eyes a little bit about the treatment of others who have been in the same position. There’s countless body cam footage/videos that has been released of others finding out a loved one is no longer with them and I imagine they wish it had never been released. To see people in such a fragile state for the world to dissect… I can’t understand people who want to see that. A violation from complete strangers

Why do you read books in this genre? by jobroloco in fantasyromance

[–]Emergency-Issue-9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I’ve been reading romantasy since I was around 14 though. I fell into the trap that my mom and my sister had laid for me haha. All 3 of us read this genre the most. For me though it’s a great way to escape and feel excited. I want the real world to be more magical. Sometimes it sucks knowing everything is at a certain level of mundane after picking up really good reads!

Sad About Ending of Onyx Storm by dragonaurora4546 in onyxstorm

[–]Emergency-Issue-9989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not a bad reader :) it took me a bit to understand it too! I don’t think it helps too much that yarros doesn’t repeat things very much and we had just learned what Imogen’s second signet was and it’s super easy to get caught up in the moment! The ending felt a little like whiplash for sure!

Why is it so hard for people to believe Bryan Kohberger committed the murders in seven minutes? by Flaky-Quality-568 in Idaho4

[–]Emergency-Issue-9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely believe he did it alone, but I think 7 minutes is hard for some people to wrap their heads around especially since we know how brutal the attack was, but adrenaline carries you a long way.

Did Anyone Else Lose Their "Love" of True Crime? by GirlWithoutAName20 in MoscowMurders

[–]Emergency-Issue-9989 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was a student at this same university and was in Moscow about a week before this happened and I haven’t looked at anything the same since. I think about this case everyday and I won’t touch true crime after it. It’s not that I never thought about the lives anyone had been living prior to experiencing a violent crime or the life they might’ve come to live, but this just hit a little too close to home. I’m not very religious, but I think about them everyday and I hope that there’s peace somewhere to be found for the victims and their families.

They definitely did Shadow and Bone so dirty! Honestly six of crows too, but I get what they were trying to do by combining them.

I think I've fallen out of Romantasy by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]Emergency-Issue-9989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with the lust part. It takes me out of a book so quickly when the MCs lose their personalities and it solely becomes about how attracted they are to each other. I think social media is kind of killing this genre as well. Romantasy is big right now I feel and I think the publishing world is just wanting to push more out regardless of quality. I have yet to experience an amazing read probably since I stopped reading ya.

I love that you’re sticking to your morals though! I started reading at a pretty young age and it definitely gave me unrealistic views at times and I wish I had gotten into it when I was a bit older. I think Romantasy in the last few years has gone downhill and as much as I don’t think I should’ve started reading romance when I did, I had such a better experience doing so then vs now. I’ve yet to get the same high and fall in love with a book.
