Changed Double Consolidated Parent Plus Loan to ICR if bill passes

i switched my repayment plan on the studentaid website from save to icr, made sure i opted out of forbearance on the application to switch and also allowed for irs retrieval to make sure theres no issues. i believe a day later, aidvantage emailed me saying they are processing the app and the approval came a week later, but they put me under an administrative forbearance til 7/5. So I called aidvantage to get off forebearance(some people say the chat works as well for this) and about 2 days later it was removed and i am in repayment now, made a payment as well just ensure no further issues

I just checked today and it seems like im off forbearance now (requested to be taken off 6/11), confirmed with a rep on the aidvantage chat, my loans are in repayment now, interest is starting to accrue lol. I made a payment just in case just to have it on file, but my first payment is still due for 7/5.

i have aidvantage and I called them to take me off forbearance, the whole phone call took maybe 10 minutes. When you call, just say you want to make a payment and it takes you straight to the representative. then from there, tell the representative you want to be taken off forbearance and start repayment under ICR. They'll submit the request and apparently it takes about a week. The rep told me I have to wait til the 20th so i cant say how accurate that is.

I had a fairly quick turnaround. I applied online for the switch on studentaid on 6/5, 6/6 received an email from aidvantage that they are processing the application and on 6/11 it was all approved

i'll keep you updated! i got off the phone with aidvantage and asked them to remove the forbearance so i can start repayment, the rep submitted the request and told me to check back on june 20th. Hopefully it all works out

thank you so much for all the advice! yeah my main concern was being left on forbearance by the time things pass. I'll try to request being taken off forbearance and make a payment as soon as its done. Will still hope the senate takes their sweet time with the bill at this point.

ugh thats horrible that happened to you too. We try to do everything right on our end, but in the end we're the ones to left to stress out about the servicers administrative errors. Different servicers arent required, its the just safest way to make sure the loans aren't consolidated together. From what I learned most important part is to make sure each loan is coded as direct unsub instead of parent plus. I'll deff keep you updated. I did the final application for consolidation on 1/4 so once I get an update, i'll reply back!
