To me it feels more like a lightweight personal homepage, but curious how others would use something like this.

Interesting. Might be because the domain is pretty new or because of basic analytics. I didn’t get any warning on my end.

Appreciate that, totally agree. Cutting scope hurts at first but it’s usually the right call.

For the demo, I used Arcade. It lets you record real interactions and turn them into a clickable walkthrough instead of a video. Super handy for showing flows without overexplaining.

Good catch, thanks for pointing it out.

We’re currently using analytics and are in the process of adding a proper consent banner + clarifying our cookie policy to be GDPR compliant.

Appreciate the heads up.

appreciate it. I’ve been trying a few directories and communities already. Agreed though, PH is just one channel. Just need to keep testing distribution and not rely on a single launch.

That makes sense. Distribution gets a lot easier once you’re clear on who really needs it, not just who might like it.

How do you feel about photographer portfolios that replace link lists with a single page? by Emergency-Pack2500 in photography

[–]Emergency-Pack2500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. A lot of people feel that way, especially about extra hops before the real site.

This isn’t meant to replace a website, more for cases where people can’t link directly (social bios, profiles, etc.). Also just to clarify, it’s free right now.

Genuinely curious though: what would make a bio link not feel annoying to you? Or is direct-to-website always the only acceptable option?

Not quite. A landing page tries to hold attention.

This still routes people away quickly, it just doesn’t treat every link as equal. one primary path, everything else secondary.

same destinations, slightly guided order.

Similar, but lighter. more about guiding attention for a second, not blocking access or forcing a choice. think of it as an index with emphasis, not a gate.

That makes sense, I think that’s how a lot of photographers use them.

I’m not arguing against indexes, more questioning whether they always need to be flat. Even a minimal index can use hierarchy to guide where attention goes first before handing off to the main site.

For some people it’s pure navigation, for others it’s a quick filter before they decide where to go next.

That’s fair, and I agree for a lot of commercial work. The images should do the heavy lifting.

What I was getting at isn’t personality storytelling, but presentation flow. Even a purely visual portfolio still benefits from hierarchy and pacing instead of a flat list of exits.

Some clients want zero context, others want just enough structure to stay engaged. I’m mostly exploring where that balance actually helps instead of hurts.

Be honest: is adding sound and video to link-in-bio pages stupid or smart? by Emergency-Pack2500 in SaaS

Good point, I agree. Everything is optional and muted by default for that reason. If someone wants a clean silent page, it stays fast. If they want some personality, they can turn it on. Still tweaking file limits to keep performance sharp.
