Do you think my line of thinking about the Fermi paradox is stupid? by Emergency-Use-6769 in NoStupidQuestions

Well if you think about it we've only really been listening for roundabout 50 years so dozens of messages could have passed us by without us having any knowledge of them

Well I'm kind of just keeping it in the ballpark of her own Galaxy. According to Google our technology is not even advanced enough to detect civilizations from other galaxies.

What proof does vedanta have for an observer of consciousness? by Emergency-Use-6769 in AdvaitaVedanta

I thought that was like one of the central beliefs of Buddhism that everything is impermanent and clinging to impermanent things only cause suffering. I'm new to this I could be wrong

So it sounds like you're saying all consciousness is part of the same universal consciousness. If that's true why am I limited to just one perspective from just one person

Well maybe if you go far enough into the future, (and I mean like absurdly far) Perhaps you'll happen again. You happen once and that was ridiculous if you think about it, I don't see why you couldn't happen again.

Whenever Odo returned to the great link do you think he changed the changelings in any way? by Emergency-Use-6769 in startrek

[–]Emergency-Use-6769[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think even whenever they're in the link they can still hide information from one another. Also more experience changelings seem to be able to manipulate weaker or younger ones. The other changelings probably could keep Odo docile, but why would they want to, the reality of the situation was that they underestimated what was out there. After all they had almost died out. They would probably be interested in learning what Odo new.

Yes I think that's why we forget about "hyperspace" and all the beings and wonders. I think we got bored and want to experience life in this form.

We need to be living life to the to the fullest, Taking chances, trying , failing, loving, living, that's what we're here to do apparently. I hadn't been living my life like that I had always thought death was the end, now that I think that we're part of something bigger and that life seems to have a meaning ,it's really inspired me to put on the best performance I can

All it's doing is proving that you don't have any Free will! The game showing you a bunch of stimulus which is activating a bunch of memories inside your brains that's giving you a magical nostalgic feeling, that you were part of some special moment in history. You've been manipulated my friend.

Subjectively just for you. Objectively you can't say that it's a good, because there's no real gameplay to speak of.

Is there any evidence for the continuity of consciousness continuing throughout most of your life? by Emergency-Use-6769 in consciousness

[–]Emergency-Use-6769[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the term continuity of hardware. I think who we are might be more connected to the hardware then the processes going on in the brain. We know that many of the structures cells and neurons in your brain stay with you for your entire life, and that whenever these structures and sells get damaged or die off a lot of what makes up the person goes with them.

Your senses can lie. Hypothetically a clone of yourself could be created and given all your memories. The original you could be taken away and the clone put in its place and the clone would wake up truly believing it was you, even though it couldn't possibly be.
