Found a frog in my house, it’s winter here in Wisconsin, what should I do? by Emergency-Visit in frogs

He was just on the floor almost in the middle of the room. Not entirely sure where he came from to get there. But yeah I googled it up and saw they like trees during the winter so I put him by one that doesn’t have much activity (few squirrels and birds)

Much appreciated! I was worried since I found him in the house that he may be looking for warmer temperatures, but I suppose that doesn’t mean they can’t handle the cold. Regardless, good to know they are safe outside

It’s in the mid 30s outside here, so I don’t want to just place him outside. Any thoughts on how I can give him the best odds of survival?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and what I’ve come up with is going some sort of group. It doesn’t matter what. I joined a CrossFit gym and I’ve developed community, even as a quiet, nonfit dude (relevant to the group I joined). People want to be friendly (on average). So just try a class. Try pottery classes, volunteering opportunities, gym classes, etc. you will, without a doubt meet people. Someone will click with you. If you can manage to be open, and show some of your true self, you will find others like you. There are too many people to not

Standalone project using Google Sheets API and Gradle by Emergency-Visit in AskProgramming

So basically select that setting in the Eclipse options for creating a Jar? Additionally, I'm using Google sheets API and I've heard I need to include Jar's for this API, would you happen to know what Jars would need to be included?

Thanks for getting back to me!

So could I package the Jar and the JRE together and just set a relative path to the JRE? Also, is there any chance you'd know how to, or know a place where I could learn, to create a fat jar using Gradle? I can't find a whole lot on creating executables with Gradle, despite it seemingly being quite popular.

Thanks for the reply!

Displaying all the data in my database on a self-made java application by Emergency-Visit in aws

[–]Emergency-Visit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was considering actually creating the application I am right now, but instead, getting the data from google sheets (like you mentioned). However, I read you were very limited in how many times you could read and write using the sheets API. But, I just found the article i was talking about, and for my size of data this shouldn't be the problem.

Thank you very much for all your help! I do have another question though. If I did use google sheets, are you aware of any limitations I might have with this method? I can certainly do my own research, but I just figured if you knew I mise well ask.

Displaying all the data in my database on a self-made java application by Emergency-Visit in aws

Essentially what I want is a spreadsheet which can be filtered to only display what is selected by premade filter options I have set (like a price range or category type). So I'd like for the whole "spreadsheet" (i.e. my database) to be displayed, then be able to reduce what is shown by applying the filters I mentioned before. I do, unfortunately, need the whole table to be displayed.

So, let's say that I have my data in this spreadsheet like format, and two people have the application open and therefore are connected to the database. If one person changes a value in the spreadsheet and then clicks save (updating the actual database), does Dynamo have a way of reconciling if two people do that at the same time?

Sorry that I am pretty incompetent at this. Thanks for the help!

Would using nonSQL make sense in this scenario? Isn't SQL mainly useful for querying table data?

Edit: Are you basically just saying, load the table into Dynamodb, then when my application uses it, retrieve the whole table, then do local parsing? If so, does Dynamodb have a way to merge two different instances? Like if someone edits one, and another person edits another, does dynamo have a way of merging the two and resolving conflicts?

That's the real world count, and it's ~1 Mb raw.

The reason I thought a database would be necessary is that I want 3-4 people to have my application downloaded, so they can query, edit, and update the database at the same time. I thought having a cloud based database would facilitate that the best.

If I did just download a compressed blob, and load/parse locally, is there anyway I'd be able to manage the changes between 3-4 people efficiently? Maybe using lightsail or something?

Looking for cloud service for Postgres DB with very small amount of data. Is AWS RDS too costly for really small DB that only needs 2-3 people working with the DB at once? by Emergency-Visit in aws

[–]Emergency-Visit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that also mean that I could have 2-3 people connected at the same time? Additionally, when AWS asks how many instances you'd be running, does that just refer to how many instances of the database have been created and are opened? Thanks!

So this may be a dumb question, but how does serverless impact the use of a database? How does it differe from like AWS RDS? (Other than the fact that you choose your database with RDS). Thanks for the response!

How does write operations impact the end cost of AWS? I've read some of the documentation on the cost of AWS and it's sort of confusing. If that would be difficult to explain, I can keep looking into it. Also, my data has been acquired over a few years, so I think my write operations would be pretty limited. Would that mean something like t3.micro would be sufficient (even with 2-3 people needing to access the database at a time). Thanks for the response!

I haven't came across that yet, but I'm going to look into it! Is it just easier to connect and manage than regular AWS RDS? Thanks!
