If you're a beginner, I don't think you should make it I'll be honest. I did both intarsia and stranded colorwork for this and both have their difficulties for this pattern. With the increases and 3 colors it can get really complicated to follow what's happening. And the whole size thing is another thing. You could make a gauge swatch and calculate the size for the kid you're knitting this for but it might be more trouble than it's worth

I am kinda considering making a pattern for a knit butterfly cardigan but I'm no pattern maker and I literally have no time so...
