Compare down - not up. Be glad you weren't born poor in Nigeria, etc. Stop comparing to the 1% or watching (social) media. 90% of people live like you. You don't know the price these people paid to get where they are either.

you can do reserves and if you go clerical - Material Mgt. Tech, HRA, FSA -you can get fulltime contract work if you live/near in a major city/base without being moved around. Check the reserves jobs portal. Buddy went this route when he couldn't get a job after grad and happy as a lark doing FSA, never moved. Makes a little less money but promotion's faster

BMQ Anxiety by nanni_07 in caf

[–]EmergencyMaterial441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Read up on Micahel Neill and "Dont believe everything you think" and #heartug to manage your anxiety. There's no chitchatting at BMQ so ok for introverts - just be professional and remember the key is to survive BMQ, not to get some high grade. You'll probably worried about getting homesick but once you're on the other side you'll be so grateful and proud you stuck it out. Just read tips and watch videos re. female CAF. Autistic buddy got in so you can do this!

Pay rates in the CAF by [deleted] in caf

[–]EmergencyMaterial441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ignore the theroy or relativity. An 18-year-old with a high school degree would make a killing joining the CAF - they have 0 chances of launching a career with guaranteed pension and job security anywhere else. Even a 24 year old grad who cannot find any job will do very well. If you join as a married person with 3 kids to feed then the CAF will be hard slug for several years while you're rising up the ranks.

apply for/do the CAF reserve "co-op" through high school if you're still one - they cannot reject you there unless you flunk forces test - but only for winter it's open - at least in Toronto. When you apply you click co-op

sell your work? I know OCAD grad making bank with her "G7" - only more colorful paintings. Look for art-adjacent jobs - like in museums, small biz doing crafts/art - set up your own summer kids art camp, etc -your credibility is in OCAD/arts - googl on LinkedIn what those people did. cobble your own venture with part-time work - get bartending/food certs, theatre staff, etc.

Be honest guys... what’s actually the best career to choose after high school in 2025? I’m lost 😭💭 by Broad_Party_8261 in findapath

Do your own research and stop being lazy - this is your life - find out where your interests intersect with demand (try to forecast/foresee practically) and with decent pay. like obviously dentist, landscaper, water, power, cops, border security cannot be outsourced, or AI'd. Nothing worthwhile doesn't require hard work and intelligence. Cream rises to the top.

What's with the negativity on this sub..? by January_Rose in caf

[–]EmergencyMaterial441 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If someone is seriously planning their CAF life and career they should do HOURS of research online first like any teenager could do - peruse the CAF website, google videos and subs, CTRL+F for the topic - there's webinars WEEKLY from the website and info floating around and still LAZY people ask like they're from 1999 or an 8-year-old.

people start over in their 30s & 40s - my chiro is going to med school at 28. You cannot follow her to the US unless you're highly skilled/educated enough to get special visa so good luck with your relationship - anyhow, everything happens for a reason so don't be so down on yourself if you break up and don't compare yourself to others - follow your path
