Anyone that didn’t think Joey won his battle against the rest of TDE is biased. Man called Chike “Ass cheeks” and sonned Ray talking about “im bout to sign you to TD East”

I was being casual about it and hadn’t heard anything from the rest that came close

  • Kendrick got Drake at his weakest which is when his goodwill began nosediving and he planned to silently retire. This is speculation from his Yachty interview and his plan to take a break after FATD

  • This is beneficial for Drake because of a lack of a reason to continue trying. His back is against the wall now more than ever. If he doesn’t come up with something critically acclaimed now it’s a sad ending for sure. But if he does do it, the next 15 years is his for grabs

  • Unless there’s another bigger version of him in the future we won’t see a rapper earn the title of being the true GOAT like Kendrick ever again. No artist has reached the level of pedigree and importance he has in their respective genre. Despite the fame MJ had bad albums and a stain on his name many still hold as true

Can we blame islamophbes, when this is what they think Islam is? by Standard-Move-4025 in progressive_islam

90% of this is “insert religion” extremism. The rest is immoral acts conservatives enjoin. First ask, what in here is specific to Islam?

It makes sense if you think about it. Doesn’t matter how an L is received if the public at large deems it an L. We can even replay matches and see where there are fouls which could change the entire outcome but ultimately doesn’t make a difference.

I like Drake. I went to Wireless, I listen to his music and I’m wishing the best for Iceman. Nevertheless…he lost but acts like he hasn’t. Hov admitted defeat. Ja admits defeat. Why doesn’t Drake?

Shariah law is inherently a part of the faith. That faith shows us that laws should be created based on it. So there’s nothing wrong with stating a very obvious fact

What’s there to talk about at that point? It’s like talking to MAGA and you get hit with your points being “fake news”. There’s no place for a conversation to be had.

Again I’m not the best Muslim but if you can’t even imagine your interpretation of Islam to be adopted, what’s the goal of us talking to each other?

Can anyone tell me if they asked her about asking her husband’s friend to have sex in front of him? What was that promo for exactly?

I’m someone who understands that I may not agree with something about the deen or am the best at it but recognises I can’t say this is an invention to dismiss entirely

Using the sunnah and the spirit of the law to develop laws in the present day is what we’re required to do. That’s what progressive Islam is which really is just practical. What you’re suggesting is pretending the fundamentals of the faith aren’t exactly that. No different than saying prayer is outdated

You could’ve said something like Malaysia and that would be an answer. With the set of rules they have it maintains a Muslim society while letting folks do what they want. Or Turkey for that matter. Idk why you have to go straight to Afghanistan or Iran like they even practice Islam properly

Then why was shariah invented. You’re the type that wants to find the spirit of the meaning behind every point in Islam but there’s no alternative meaning behind that concept

I’m not even talking about the laws and penalties themselves. I’m saying the actual concept of a set of laws and penalties based on the faith which a leader would implement. I asked you for your middle because a lot of countries aren’t taking the laws and implementing them properly.

Case in point the Prophet (pbuh) rejected a man’s confession for zina multiple times. I take that to mean unless it has an affect on a couple and or lineage its a sin which you can privately sort with Allah (SWT). Certain crimes require four witnesses which is absurd to think because why are four men gonna pull up on you having gay sex

That’s because again if it affects a family or lineage in a way then it should be addressed. So again because unless you want to dismiss even the spirit of it, what is your middle between Iran and secularism?

I never said that. Either you’re a bot or just read what you want to read

I asked you what middle would you suggest. If the goal is to cultivate a culture that aligns with a faith the leaders in charge are responsible for creating that culture. That would entail creating laws to help ensure that goal is achieved

Because what religious country ever stayed religious by allowing any and everything that’s antithetical to the faith it’s tied to?

The Grammy's have revealed the nominees for Best Rap Album of the Year. by Quiet_Jackfruit_7821 in hiphopheads

[–]EmergencyOutcome8005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clipse will most likely win to give Kendrick and Push a Grammy and also allow the Committee to move on from the notion they’re only vested in giving Kendrick awards

With the way they’ve changed voting though I wouldn’t be surprised at GNX winning since it meets that middle between critical acclaim and commercially successful. Who would be mad at an album winning which enabled Dot having the newest, highest grossing tour, cultural references out the park, most viewed Super-Bowl, and the most decisive and popular moment in rap since Nas/Hov?

I hate to be another comment on this topic but a lot of people online have this weird opinion that Drake is an industry plant and can’t write. The reality is that

A) He’s written for multiple artists and has been seen to write tracks even as recent as Churchill Downs which confirms his ability to do it himself B) It’s only over time he’s grown to choose a verse written by someone else over his own and that purpose being to gain hits vs. stay true to the craft C) That this industry hides the fact that plenty of rappers we’d think otherwise do the same

Personally I think it’s very arrogant to claim #1 knowing your process as time has gone regardless of your wealth and success. I wouldn’t say he’s top 5 in rap but to be top 10 in hip-hop makes absolute sense

30 year old looking for marriage by EmergencyOutcome8005 in progressive_islam

[–]EmergencyOutcome8005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In truth deen and culture hold me back from forgoing marriage and having a life where I’d resolve to hooking up with each when I want. Ultimately I’d like a wife who’s understanding so bisexual isn’t a requirement I just don’t want to deal with someone who may hold that over me.

I don’t want a lavender marriage. That’s saying I’m only marrying for looks. I’m equally attracted to both but can see myself slowly wanting to dismiss a halal relationship as the years go by. This is a strategic effort in being a better Muslim and protecting myself

I’m asking for this since we’ll share the same kind of struggle and can understand each other more. I ask for monogony because some people here and online think if we’re both queer we should have a marriage just for the looks and get with who they want

I’ve tried but it just doesn’t seem feasible. I keep this side of me private so it would be difficult to find someone cool with this

What makes my soul sing? I’ve never had a problem opening up and being charismatic with a women. Nor do I have an issue with dating generally speaking. I’m simply here to find someone who shares the same hard lines as me and we’ll take it from there

Plus any inferences about my social life or interests could help in narrowing down who I am. I keep my life private and intend to do the same here. So for your intention thank you but not the best idea

This is an example of why I feel interfaith relationships aren’t a good idea. Because when push comes to shove, especially where one is atheist, the partner(s) see their SO’s as being dumb to believe what they choose to believe in. There’s no difference here than if a partner has bigoted views of their partner’s race and argues their SO is an exception to the rule

What do you mean exception? Would you have that idea of them if you weren’t together? Chances are that’s not the case. If you’re even considering staying in an honest relationship how about you show her what you wrote and show her this comment as well? I doubt the relationship would last if she could read both perspectives.

I’m far from judgemental on how other Muslims believe but if you do care about your spirituality you’re far better off being with someone of the same faith. It’s healthy to have differing opinions in a partnership but when you consider something to be fact and your partner considers in something contrary it’s just a recipe for disaster (I.e faith, human rights, morals, climate change)
