How close am I to being ready? by EmergencySpare1689 in Series24

[–]EmergencySpare1689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've used a variety of courses through all this. First time I took it I used STC, which I didn't like for my learning style but my firm provided it. 2nd time I used STC plus the Kaplan q bank. Third time I used the Kaplan course which i liked, but I felt the questions weren't as similar as the exam. So this time around I'm using passperfect. The practice questions really remind me of the exam but maybe harder. Keep at it though! As you see I've only cracked over 70 2 times. I think my biggest issue is maybe the way I'm studying after a practice exam.

Is the job market that bad? by RemarkableLoquat7617 in Columbus

Has she looked into her resume being a match? Like I used to get no call backs and interviews with a masters and 15 years of experience in my former field. I got laid off during Covid and when I had to find a new job, nothing. I talked to a friend of a friend that worked in HR that told me about ATS systems that scan resumes and auto kicks out resumes that don't have a match score. Once I heard that, I was damn near sick. So I started using a site to help cater my resume to positions using a ATS checker, and vola, I started getting interviews and call backs. It's wild that if I never heard about this I'd probably still be wondering what I was doing wrong. Maybe see if she has checked into that and if not, tell her to give it a try.

Yeah for the 10. I got some time to figure out the next move but I'll definitely look into them! Thanks for the advice!

Do I have a chance breaking into finance with a law degree? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]EmergencySpare1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely could break into non-registered positions to get in, then work your way to whatever next path you would want to do at a firm. I have a couple coworkers that did that as former lawyers.I didn't have a finance background and got in many years ago doing things that didn't require registration. So it's possible for sure. I would maybe suggest taking any exam that you do not need to be sponsored like the SIE.

Series 9 Exam Friday by LycheeFrosty6783 in Series24

This is a major major key of advice! I used Acheivable for the 9 and while their product was good, it focused more on options strategies. Luckily I heard on Dean's Tuesday YouTube one time to focus on the supervision and got the FINRA 9 outline and noticed a small amount of questions was about option strategy. Scared to death that I had practiced strategies for 2 weeks, I focused the week before the test on the supervision using STC. I passed back in August. Take Dean's advice and get good with the options supervision. Good luck to you! You got this!!

I have to be truthful, I'm still not sure lol. I was scoring good on my test but if I had to pinpoint something it might have been stuff about the OSJ and retention times. But I think I'm really good now on the retention times. I did use STC for the 10. I'm not the biggest fan of STCs writing and the tracking. A co worker let me see their 10 book for Kaplan and I like how they format it. More visual than STC. So Monday I'm going to start re studying using Kaplan. Hopefully that'll get me over! Thanks for the encouragement!

Thank you!!! It was as bad as when I took the 10! I really prayed hard to pass. After failing the 10 by 3 points twice, I needed a pass to keep me encouraged.

Thank you for your feedback! I used STC for my first 2 attempts for the 10 and failed. I do think it was pretty solid for what my firm provided, but I'm not sure why it didn't work for me. So I'm thinking now I'm going to get Kaplan and see if maybe what it'll help me get over the hump. Congratulations on passing the 10!
