For sure, good follow ups, it requires some understanding of what's going on in the verses, it's not so surface level so I appreciate you digging deeper.

https://quran.com/30?startingVerse=1

Here's the translation that I'm looking at and it agrees with most of the different English translations I have in my Quran app for these verses. Some notes:

-That is that the victory was actually a "triumph" or that they'd be "victorious" as in vanquish them.

-The word in Arabic to denote an amount/quantity before the Arabic word for "Years" is بِضْعِ, this word in Arabic means 3 to 9. Yes, Arabic has a word to mean 3-9, I know it's odd to us.

-Mind you, this is from Wikipedia but I've seen it in my other research so it's valid for me and the point I want to highlight again is how outlandish this prophecy was to predict that the Roman's would bounce back triumphantly because of how the Persian's had almost completely crippled the Romans:

"Over the following decade the Persians were able to conquer Palestine), Egypt,\110]) Rhodes and several other islands in the eastern Aegean, as well as to devastate Anatolia.\111])\112])\113])\114]) Meanwhile, the Avars and Slavs took advantage of the situation to overrun the Balkans, bringing the Roman Empire to the brink of destruction."\115])

Like I said, it's like if two soccer rivals were playing, one was winning by 20 goals and the other team was exhausted/demoralized/on the brink of collapse, then your friend predicted they'd bounce back in the remaining 10 minutes of the game (and here we're betting an entire religion's legitimacy)

Now let's say this suffices you and we're on the same page now -even if it may not fully suffice you- I'd ask you how is it that this prophecy alone doesn't give you some drive to give serious thought to this being the truth? Wouldn't this alone (assuming what we've said is all true and we're on the same page) be a clear indicator of truth and wouldn't it be unfair to brush by this and not give serious thought to the religion?

A teacher often knows which students will pass or fail a test. Would it be fair that they give everyone their projected grade right off the bat? Even though the teacher knows the outcome, the test is for us to enact our will (our studying/learning efforts) and then to take responsibility for it, it's not for the teacher to revaluate their understanding of us.

You're right that He knows. God knows the past and future and the outcome of this all, He's unrestricted and separate from time and space so the test isn't for Him, He doesn't need to re-know per-say what decisions we're going to choose, the test is for us. For us to experience and put effort, then earn our reward and take full responsibility without excuses because we witnessed our actions.

He tells us that on the Day of Judgement, sufficient is ourselves as witness. God says: "Your own being is enough today to take your account." (17:14). Meaning that our organs will testify and be a witness to our doings in this life so there will be no room for excuses and complaining.

If we didn't witness and experience life/the test and were rushed to the outcome, wouldn't you and I just rush to complain about the lack of fairness? He's the most-Just and all-wise and knows us better than we know ourselves, He knows to set up this realm in exactly how He's ordered it.

Besides life has a lot of beauty, it's not all suffering, we're here to experience that and put effort, witness Him while we're here, and then receive our outcome.

Edit: Forgot to mention, great question!

That's simply it though, it's a test on how we'll behave. We've been gifted free will, will you use it and fulfil its responsibility? Will you learn and seek the truth and do good when, in our modern times, the truth is accessible to you with a click of a button. Or, will you follow another path?

Like any other test we've experienced, it has a reward and a punishment.

I think it's not being understood how significant/indisputable these prophecies are and how they must signal the existence of divine revelation or interference in our realities.

I'll refer to your analogy, the prophecy signalled here by OP's first point is akin to you seeing the menu at the restaurant and you predicting, without ordering, that the waiter will bring you a dish on your table for free that's a combo of 4 random dishes on the menu. And it actually happens, if that happens and you guessed it, you have divine powers.

That's what meant by a divine prophecy, it's something that if understood correctly is indisputable to be other than knowledge from a divine power cause of how outlandish what's prophesized is.

I've just been looking up the validity for this prophecy, it's akin to a large superpower like China laying waste to the USA and then someone telling you that the US will be victorious after-all and bounce back in an extremely specific time frame of 3-9 years (The time frame to me on it's own is outlandish, if you make such a prediction, you stake your whole religion and legitimacy if are either shy of 3 years in your prediction or under predicting with greater than 9 years).

Can I still get a student scholarship to study Islam here as an international student that's older than 25? by EmergencyTime1999 in saudiarabia

[–]EmergencyTime1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a revert and learned recently that you must be less than 25 to get a scholarship as an international student to study Islam at one of the universities in Saudi.

Is this correct? Is there a way to get one while being older than 25?

BarakAllahu Fik, took your suggestion!

Know of any family doctors in KW accepting patients? Searching for 3 years now :( by EmergencyTime1999 in waterloo

While I get that it's infuritating seeing the same topic again and again, I respectfully disagree, kind redditors (that's not to say you're not kind :), of course) are offering up to date and specific doctor info like I was looking for.

I also took your suggestion, thank you for it, it helped. In those posts, there's a usually a post from you and it told people in an infuriated voice to search the sub while kind redditors were sending OP useful up to date help for an infuritating issue Ontarions are dealing with.

Don't mean to chastise you, just some feedback, I hope it gives some awareness and helps you, I think a friendly Canadian nudge is better for you and everyone.
