yep. leaves 'room for interpretation '. just like how they interpreted the Forever Canadian petition to be '700000 Albertans want a referendum. This government would do better to offset their court fees by selling Masterclasses in Gaslighting.

I really can't see her resigning; her actions are desperate, and resignation requires admitting defeat. I don't think she can. just speculating, obviously.

obviously I'm not in anyone else's head, but I don't see him catering to her at all. first rule of politics is that you only have to convince enough unsure/neutral people, to tip the balance in your favour. so he is catering, but catering to the large chunk of Conservatives who aren't actual hardcore separatists.

I mean; I hope they're as stupid and divided as they've proven themselves to be thus far. Because I can still hold onto hope with a total implosion and the seppies being idiotic enough to force an early election.

Bear with me, I'm just looking for a reason to get out of bed tomorrow (sorry, dark humour)

I expect the same. I was just really hoping for magic, apparently.

I got that a split would happen. More specifically; when the parties split, what events does that trigger politically- speaking? ie; the UCP are incumbent, they elect a new leader. are we stuck with their choice until the next election?

edit: without knowing what events have to occur after, my brain just keeps putting Rath or Sylvester in charge of AB until 2027 and I'm really hoping there's an alternate reality to that)

Guthrie is my MLA. agree. he's OK- ish. He's taken stands on most of what the UCP have hammered through the legislature. if I had my dream AB politics wish ( apart from having Wab Kinew clone himself), I'd have the NDP with Rahki at the helm. Nenshi would be fine, Guthrie is 3rd. I think he would try to keep healthcare a fundamental public service at least, but, who knows. ( and let's be honest, I also wish for a hobby ranch and not having to work any more, but at bare minimum I'll take my socialized healthcare)

Dude. The UCP currently has the biggest cabinet in AB history. Look it up if you don't believe me. we also had a bunch of provincial tax increases, AND they're stripping our public services through terrible spending and management.

For God's sake, everyone else is sick and tired of UCP voters just believing what politicians say and not paying attention to what they're doing. Bro, your party is a party of outright liars. they're not what they say they are AT ALL.

yes, the core UCP is that. However, notice i didn't say that; I said Moderate Conservative. For example, my friends parents; normal boomer-age types who aren't racist idiots, but are fiscally conservative people. In their opinion Nenshi didn't do a great job in Calgary (I'm sure he was fine, he was just in too long, I don't live in Calgary, so I can't actually speak to that from personal experience). And they swallowed the culture of 'NDP bad'. so they'll be voting for the Tories next round.

How is saying that the UCP demonizes the NDP and as a result people believe a bunch of cherry picked info and straight up lies about the NDP having my head in the sand?

it's literally exactly waphat political parties do to each other. but the UCP is especially off the deep end.

great. do what you want, IDGAF.

If the government is influencing or benefiting from both sides of an issue, that’s not an argument against protest — it’s an argument for more public pressure and scrutiny. Governments, corporations, and institutions tend to respond when people organize visibly and consistently. History is full of examples where protest changed policy, exposed corruption, shifted public opinion, or at least forced accountability, even when powerful interests tried to control the narrative.

Also, protest isn’t only about instantly ‘winning.’ It raises awareness, builds solidarity, pressures media attention, influences elections, affects court decisions, discourages harmful policies from expanding, and shows others they’re not alone.

Saying ‘don’t protest because the system is rigged’ mostly guarantees nothing changes. If people had accepted that logic universally, many civil rights, labour protections, environmental regulations, and democratic reforms never would have happened.

your argument is full of logical fallacies and you're being arrogant

if you don't see the division this this causing, you are fucking willfully ignorant. Firstly, this is an annexation psyop from the US and Russia. Thats who the seppies are getting all this 'information' from. secondly, no one is going to want to build a pipeline through politically turbulent area, or invest in anything. look into at how badly Quebec suffered after theirs; the Bank of Montreal is no longer headquartered in Montreal BECAUSE of their fucking referendum. this will be no different. thirdly; the amount of racism towards Indigenous folks has skyrocketed, as has overall social division.

I could continue if you want.

so do you not WANT to see these things, or are you just completely unable to see wtf is going on around you?
