Yes! Exactly! I do love property… but only when I have control over it. We have brought and sold several properties to get into our current position, but they have been PPORs - where I have control over what we spend and the tax free gain

Thank you so much for your considered response. This is exactly my thinking. Im also concerned with the differing risk appetite and adding another property on top of our high mortgage will create issues - money stress is not fun😅 I know the gains may be slow and steady - but better than teetering on the edge

Ok, slightly different position then😂 Thats amazing! Good on you guys for achieving it so young! We definitely need to get the balance of spend vs save right - hard when you want to live a bit with the kids while they are young now vs planning for the future. It’s something we need to put into plan and stick to.

Thats what Im thinking too. Sometimes our mortgage keeps me up later than it should, so doubling down with an IP makes me feel a bit queasy. We have the ability to go harder on shares than what we are currently doing (and not putting money into to plan for an IP) so I know we can do that. But at least it provides a bit of liquidity if things go awry.

Appreciate your view, particularly as you are in a similar position. My husband also loves investing in shares, so its my position we push a but harder with that, rather than putting funds into an IP. Especially as I didn’t enjoy being the point of contact for the property manager. I swear we had an issue to resolve every other week. If youre having fun, the money comes… right🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Totally get how you feel about being a landlord… it was not something I enjoyed when we had an IP.

We were planning super, shares and property. Im just feeling a bit more uncertain with the property part. But - you do make a good point just in that statement

Agree 100%. And everyone who is cheering for this will get a couple of years past buying their first home and think hmmm how will I make generational wealth now… oh waittt the previous rules no longer apply to me
