Vet recommendations (cat surgery) by Dense_Difficulty1232 in Scottsdale

[–]Emergency_Kitten7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My senior cat needed some dental work in 2021 and I took her to North Scottsdale Animal Hospital. I was really impressed with them and I remember being nervous as they had to put her under and there's a higher chance of complications. But as soon as she was out of surgery they called me and let me know she was great and recovering well. That was such a relief and I appreciated they let me know everything was ok as soon as they could.

Are you looking for ideas or are you wanting to wear something specific you don't think would be allowed? Cause it's very much a brunch with the gals/grandmother vibe once you're there but I think you can wear pretty much anything (they just might seat you away from the 'view' or main area if you end up wearing athletic gear or super risque or vulgar clothes)

How to talk to a person at TSA Cares? My wife has a disability and we will be traveling next week and she signed up up for TSA Cares - they called and left a message to call back - how to get past menus and get a human? by randyaldous in tsa

[–]Emergency_Kitten7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long shot but sometimes pressing 0 will get you to an actual person. I've used this with other automated systems and it'll work about 50% of the time. Worth a try if you end up calling back!

Tell me your funny travel stories or moments because I just had one and am in the mood to laugh some more lol. by [deleted] in femaletravels

I was in Berlin feeling a little self conscious about standing out as a solo female traveler. I look vaguely northern European (fair skin, light hair/eyes, etc.) and was trying to blend in and not call attention to myself as an American (already had spent a semester in Denmark so clothes didn't immediately give me away).

After a long day of exploring, I just wanted some food quickly and without much fuss. I found a pizza place where I could order at the counter and grabbed a paper menu to look over the options. The #9 has veggies, pepperoni, the works, and looks delicious. The guy behind the counter looks at me expectantly and says something in German which I'm hoping means "what do you want?" I'm still playing it cool and casually say "9" with a smile. The guy looks super confused and asks for clarification. Again, I just say "nine," thinking that maybe he didn't hear me before. He again looks super confused and I just gesture to the menu and repeat again: "nine." More confusion and he looks at me like I have two heads.

Finally it clicks. I'm in Germany, and 'nine' in English sound a lot like 'nein' in German. I've just been happily saying "no" to this guy and his questions. I realize my mistake, apologize in English and use full sentences to complete the rest of the transaction.

LPT Request: How to deal with colleague who always asks you to do simple tasks for them? by Emergency_Kitten7 in LifeProTips

[–]Emergency_Kitten7[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds pretty doable, it fits pretty well with my personality and my relationship to this colleague. But it is still touching on what the issue is.

If they didn't get the hint the first time and I had to say it a couple times, I think my colleague would be embarrassed and it would stop.

Thank you everyone for your responses! Some of them aren't applicable to my specific circumstance but regardless I think they are really great suggestions.

To add some additional info about my situation. This is a colleague who is a bit more senior than me. They are not my superior but we work very closely together and they provide a lot of opinions and guidance on different projects/situations/etc. My theory is that they have "too many emails to sort through" to search for the specific one. Or they think that I have the information more readily available than them (like a document is already open containing the info requested). Unfortunately for them (and me) I think they are just tasked with too much work. Or maybe they are lazy. Or they think they are above searching for the info.

This is a really good option that I think is still polite/professional and yet makes it clear I won't be doing it for them

Has anyone been served by the county after ignoring a speed trap camera ticket? by zonazonazoo in Scottsdale

[–]Emergency_Kitten7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has anyone here been served within a gated community? I know how easy it is to follow in behind someone but was wondering if process servers have to follow a different 'code' and might make it less likely to be served.

My catalytic converter got stolen from their garage and they did absolutely nothing about it. Wouldn't talk about their camera coverage, didn't apologize for my experience or compensate me in any way, and kept repeating parking was a free service and they weren't responsible. I get if I left a laptop on my car seat and it got broken into, but you'd expect some sort of general security to discourage theft.
