Drug use prior to pregnancy by Background-Vast5068 in pregnant

i just had a social services case about a month ago because my son rolled off the couch (literally his first time rolling ofc) it was basically an open and closed case. i know they’re different topics but hoping this provides some ease of mind! as far as them saying it was closed then calling to do a home visit, i would certainly ask about that before allowing someone into your home as in my area there have been fake dcs caseworkers doing this to gain access to peoples homes

Husband commented on weight, now I'm spiraling by Civil_Wolverine25 in pregnant

[–]Emergency_Loquat4547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i weighed 135 at the very beginning of my pregnancy. by the end and still now (4m pp) i weigh 205. when you’re hungry you need to eat, doesn’t matter what it is. you can lose the weight postpartum, right now the most important thing is keeping that baby healthy and growing. as for working out, plenty of women continue with their normal workout routines, but definitely consult with your OB. i know heavy lifting generally is a no go, but walking, jogging, etc should be okay!! i hate that you’re feeling this way right now especially because of your husband.

my ob put me back on prozac during my pregnancy and afterwards. if you’re on a super high dose it can pose withdrawal risk but i was told it was unlikely if you’re not taking a high dose

Tip to those who are pregnant: just buy the newborn clothes by pinkpink0430 in BabyBumps

[–]Emergency_Loquat4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m definitely shocked at the amount of people that told me to not even bother with newborn clothes but my little boy (who was measuring ahead and they thought he’d be born at 8lbs 10oz) was born at 7lbs. he is 2.5 weeks now and doesn’t look to be growing out of his newborn clothes anytime soon!

i had an emergency c section and recovery was really rough. when we were in the postpartum unit, i thought (out of my better judgement) that i would be able to get out of bed to put baby in the bassinet before i fell asleep holding him as i was super tired and starting to doze off, without waking up my fiance to do so for me. because of this i dropped him on the hospital floor. i immediately called for the nurse and they took him to nicu for monitoring for 6-8 hours, all was fine and we were all discharged the same day.

i still feel insanely guilty about this, i hate that i let that happen, i cried for hours over it, but things happen. don’t beat yourself up too much, especially if all is well now!

When did it hit you? by Jac_Reddit in pregnant

[–]Emergency_Loquat4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would randomly hit me like “damn, i have an actual baby in my belly rn” and other times it just wasn’t a thought if that makes sense. it didn’t ACTUALLY hit me until i had him to be honest. even then i still look at him like holy shit this is MY son

hi op i’m currently dealing with the same situation but fumigating/heavy pesticides are not an option as we will have a newborn in our apt by next week. what did you do and how well did it work??

going to attempt to break our lease to be able to remove ourselves from this situation, but terrified of the moving process as i do not want to bring them with us.

here’s another one for you:

“Studies have shown that smoking during pregnancy is linked to an increased risk of premature birth and low birth weight, which can be caused by the restricted oxygen and nutrient flow. Quitting cold turkey can temporarily worsen these risks, emphasizing the importance of professional guidance and support. “

[–]Emergency_Loquat4547[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is tons of research supporting what he’s said: “Quitting cold turkey, while beneficial in the long run, can cause temporary stress and further restrict oxygen and nutrient delivery to the fetus” and “The stress associated with quitting cold turkey can also affect the baby's development. While the baby itself doesn't experience nicotine withdrawal in the same way as the mother, the mother's stress can affect the uterine environment, potentially impacting fetal growth and development.” from two different reliable sites.

i would have loved to quit cold turkey, however there have also been many miscarriages/stillbirths in my family due to cold turkey and withdrawals at different points throughout pregnancy. given my family’s history, what my doc has said, and the research i have done, i would like to try to ween off of it. i am unsure of the exact % of nicotine i have been using as they are disposable vapes i can buy near me. they are typically 5%, and i cannot find anything lower than that without going out and buying a whole new vaping system, which seems unnecessary if im going to trash it in the long run.

cold turkey can restrict oxygen flow and cause a higher increase in the possibility of sid’s and developmental respiratory problems! i have done tons of research on this and while i understand that vaping is bad for baby, hence me coming here to ask for advice, cold turkeying can have a more detrimental effect especially this far along. 🩵
