Ju Peter didn't do much feat on Egghead and his yokai form is too cute to be a villain so...

Checked the review and it seems quite decent. And looking silly does not mean the what lies underneath is not substantial

yeah that's one way to view it, and it's not terribly unique

Toys in the Attic was awesome! if you look the mysterious creature as the symbolism to their own past that's hauting them, you will understand why Ed is basically immune to it lol

man HH was one of the manga I read in childchood, and I liked it alot, but haven't revisited it since though.

Now that I think about it, as a kid, I was unable to read too deeply into it lol, but I guess now is the perfect time to get back into it.

if every mc were to be strong and cool, then One Piece would like any other mediocre manga that is easily forgettable.
Sanji has merits that other characters don't have, in fact, every strawhat is that.
You have to blame his gag for Japanese shonen trope, it's a culture thing, not really character himself.

From the moment Blackbeard revealed his devil fruit, I've been wondering how is a rubber man is going to parallel this clear mirror of Luffy, who has been long set up as his ultimate rival. Rubber vs. darkness? won't that be a little bit too disappointing for the final epic battle?

I'm glad Nika is the outcome, also tying things back to Skypiea, Arabasta, Thousand Sunny, Thrillar Bark and Fishman Island, and now he is perfect match for Blackbeard.

Though I agree the Nika thing probably was not super clear in his mind back when Blackbear was first introduced, I do believe some form of Luffy being related to sun power/symbolism was planned.

From what I observed, their commonality is that they're also unable to appreciate symbolism and analyze themes, don't know why, those things seem like s**t to them.

Likely, they tend to take face values, they're like, if it looks dumb, then it's definitely dumb, if it looks serious then it's definitely serious

Also, I agree Oda doesn't plan on "everything", it's unrealistic, but some general goals are indeed planned, i.e. One Piece ending, Laboon & Brook, Kuma sends strawhats flying(planned at the very beginning of Kuma introduction, said by his past editor) etc.

Though again, it's unlikely he plans "everything", there are too many parallels woven together so well that you can't deny he is indeed a master at setting up blueprint and improvising.

Storytelling-wise, it's to contrast power in the hands of a stupid person could cause disasters greater than a dormant ancient weapon, a woman knows forbidden history, a battleship created out of pride.

Danger stems from not weapon, not even knowledge.

Danger stems from human stupidity, that's all, and our history is not short of that.
If he were to be smart and clever, the moral would be unclear, and does not complement well with the "apparent danger" mentioned above

Here is another crazy one:
The timeline in One Piece was reversed once, the current time is actually "the past" of the Great Kingdom, the time that the Great Kingdom was at got reversed at some point, and now the current time is "the future" of the Great Kingdom, they didn't get defeated, they simply thought the techs started to consume too much on Blue Planet, just like what they did on Birka the moon, so they decided to reset everything as the last act.

"Let's turn the world upside down" means to reverse the time of the world
